ये॒ ऽमावास्यां॑ रा॒त्रिम् उद॒स्थुर् व्राज॒म् अत्त्रि॒णः ।
अग्नि॒स् तुरी॒यो यातुहा॒ सो॒ अस्म॒भ्यम् अ॒धि ब्रवत् ॥१॥
yé 'māvāsyā̀ṃ rā́trim udásthur vrājám attríṇaḥ |
agnís turī́yo yātuhā́ só asmábhyam ádhi bravat ||1||
(Те) пожиратели, что возникли роем
В ночь новолуния, -
Четвертый Агни, убийца злых духов,
Да подбодрит он нас (против них)!
May potent Agni who destroys the demons bless and shelter us.
From greedy fiends who rise in troops at night-time when the
moon is dark.
Against the devouring demons who, in the night of the full-moon, have arisen in throngs, may Agni, the strong, the slayer of the sorcerers, give us courage!
avś_01.016.02.
सी॒साया॒ध्य् आह व॒रुणः सी॒सायाग्नि॒र् उ॒पावति ।
सी॒सं म इ॒न्द्रः प्रा॒यछत् त॒द् अङ्ग॒ यातुचा॒तनम् ॥२॥
sī́sāyā́dhy āha váruṇaḥ sī́sāyāgnír úpāvati |
sī́saṃ ma índraḥ prā́yachat tád aṅgá yātucā́tanam ||2||
Свинец благословил Варуна,
Свинец нравится Агни,
Свинец мне пожаловал Индра -
Вот он и изгоняет злых духов!
Varuna's benison hath blessed the lead, and Agni strengthens it.
Indra hath given me the lead: this verily repels the fiends.
To the lead Varuna gives blessing, to the lead Agni gives help. Indra gave me the lead: unfailingly it dispels sorcery.
avś_01.016.03.
इदं॒ वि॒ष्कन्धं सहत इदं॒ बाधते अत्त्रि॒णः ।
अने॒न वि॒श्वा ससहे या॒ जाता॒नि पिशाच्याः॒ ॥३॥
idáṃ víṣkandhaṃ sahata idáṃ bādhate attríṇaḥ |
anéna víśvā sasahe yā́ jātā́ni piśācyā́ḥ ||3||
Он одолевает вишкандху,
Он оттесняет пожирателей,
С ним я одолел все Роды,
которые пишачи.
This overcomes Vishkandha, -this drives the voracious fiends
away:
By means of this have I, o'erthrown all the Pisāchi's demon
brood.
This (lead) overcomes the vishkandha, this smites the devouring demons (atrin); with this I have overwhelmed all the brood of the Pisākas.
avś_01.016.04.
य॒दि नो गां॒ हं॒सि य॒द्य् अ॒श्वं य॒दि पू॒रुषम् ।
तं॒ त्वा सी॒सेन विध्यामो य॒था नो॒ ऽसो अ॒वीरहा ॥४॥
yádi no gā́ṃ háṃsi yády áśvaṃ yádi pū́ruṣam |
táṃ tvā sī́sena vidhyāmo yáthā nó 'so ávīrahā ||4||
Если ты убиваешь у нас корову,
Если коня, если человека,
То мы пронзаем тебя свинцом,
Чтобы был ты нам неубийцей героев!
If thou destroy a cow of ours, a human being, or a steed,
We pierce thee with this piece of lead so that thou mayst not slay
our men.
If thou slayest our cow, if our horse or our domestic, we pierce thee with the lead, so that thou shalt not slay our heroes.
