यां॒ त्वा गन्धर्वो॒ अ॒खनद् व॒रुणाय मृत॒भ्रजे ।
तां॒ त्वा वयं॒ खनामस्य् ओ॒षधिं शेपह॒र्षणीम् ॥१॥

yā́ṃ tvā gandharvó ákhanad váruṇāya mr̥tábhraje |
tā́ṃ tvā vayáṃ khanāmasy óṣadhiṃ śepahárṣaṇīm ||1||

Тебя, что откопал Гандхарва Для Варуны с омертвелым удом, Тебя мы откапываем - Растение, вздымающее член.

We dig thee from the earth, the Plant which strengthens and
exalts the nerves,
The Plant which the Gandharva dug for Varuna whose power
was lost.

Thee, the plant, which the Gandharva dug up for Varuna, when his virility had decayed, thee, that causest strength[1], we dig up.
[1. The original, more drastically, sepaharshanīm. By a few changes and omissions in stanzas 3, 6, and 7 the direct simplicity of the original has been similarly veiled.]

avś_04.004.02.

उ॒द् उषा॒ उ॒द् उ सू॒र्य उ॒द् इदं॒ मामकं॒ व॒चः ।
उ॒द् एजतु प्रजा॒पतिर् वृ॒षा शु॒ष्मेण वाजि॒ना ॥२॥

úd uṣā́ úd u sū́rya úd idáṃ māmakáṃ vácaḥ |
úd ejatu prajā́patir vŕ̥ṣā śúṣmeṇa vājínā ||2||

Вверх Ушас, вверх Сурья, Вверх эта речь моя!
Вверх пусть поднимется Праджапати, Бык с могучим порывом!

Let Ushas and let Sūrya rise, let this the speech I utter rise.
Let the strong male Prajāpati arise with manly energy.

Ushas (Aurora), Sūrya, (the sun), and this charm of mine; the bull Pragāpati (the lord of creatures) shall with his lusty fire arouse him!

avś_04.004.03.

य॒था स्म ते विरो॒हतो ऽभि॒तप्तम् इवा॒नति ।
त॒तस् ते शु॒ष्मवत्तरम् इयं॒ कृणोत्व् ओ॒षधिः ॥३॥

yáthā sma te viróhato 'bhítaptam ivā́nati |
tátas te śúṣmavattaram iyáṃ kr̥ṇotv óṣadhiḥ ||3||

Как у тебя растущего,
Он дышит, словно (его) раскалили, -
Более порывистым, чем это,
Пусть сделает его для тебя растение!

Sicut tui surgentis (membrum virile) tanquam inflammatum
palpitat, hoc illud tui ardentius haec herba faciat.

This herb shall make thee so very full of lusty strength, that thou shalt, when thou art excited, exhale heat as a thing on fire!

avś_04.004.04.

उ॒च् छु॒ष्मौ॒षधीनां सा॒रा ऋषभा॒णाम् ।
सं॒ पुंसा॒म् इन्द्र वृ॒ष्ण्यम् अस्मि॒न् धेहि तनूवशिन् ॥४॥

úc chúṣmáuṣadhīnāṃ sā́rā r̥ṣabhā́ṇām |
sáṃ puṃsā́m indra vŕ̥ṣṇyam asmín dhehi tanūvaśin ||4||

Вверх порыв растений, суть быков! Сложи в нем мужскую силу (всех) мужей, О Индра, властитель тела!

Sursum (estote) herbarum vires, taurorum vigor. Tu, Indra,
corporis potens, virorum masculum robur in hoc homine
depone.

The fire of the plants, and the essence of the bulls shall arouse him! Do thou, O Indra, controller of bodies, place the lusty force of men into this person!

avś_04.004.05.

अपां॒ र॒सः प्रथमजो॒ ऽथो व॒नस्प॒तीनाम् ।
उत॒ सो॒मस्य भ्रा॒तास्य् उता॒र्श॒म् असि वृ॒ष्ण्यम् ॥५॥

apā́ṃ rásaḥ prathamajó 'tho vánaspátīnām |
utá sómasya bhrā́tāsy utā́rśám asi vŕ̥ṣṇyam ||5||

Ты перворожденный сок вод, А также лесных деревьев.
И еще ты брат Сомы,
И мужская сила оленя ты.

Ros aquarum primigenitus atque arborum, Somae etiam frater
es, vatum sacrorum masculus vigor es.

Thou (O herb) art the first-born sap of the waters and also of the plants. Moreover thou art the brother of Soma, and the lusty force of the antelope buck!

avś_04.004.06.

अद्या॒ग्ने अद्य॒ सवितर् अद्य॒ देवि सरस्वति ।
अद्या॒स्य॒ ब्रह्मणस् पते ध॒नुर् इवा॒ तानया प॒सः ॥६॥

adyā́gne adyá savitar adyá devi sarasvati |
adyā́syá brahmaṇas pate dhánur ivā́ tānayā pásaḥ ||6||

Сейчас же, о Агни, сейчас же, о Савитар,
Сейчас же, о богиня Сарасвати,
Сейчас же, о Брахманаспати,
Сделай его член тугим, как лук!

Hodie, Agnis! hodie Savitar! hodie dea Sarasvatis! hodie
Brahmanaspatis! hujus fascinum velut arcum extende.

Now, O Agni, now, O Savitar, now, O goddess Sarasvatī, now, O Brahmanaspati, do thou stiffen the pasas as a bow!

avś_04.004.07.

आ॒हं॒ तनोमि ते प॒सो अ॒धि ज्या॒म् इव ध॒न्वनि ।
क्र॒मस्व॒र्श इव रोहि॒तम् अ॒नवग्लायता स॒दा ॥७॥

ā́háṃ tanomi te páso ádhi jyā́m iva dhánvani |
krámasvárśa iva rohítam ánavaglāyatā sádā ||7||

Я делаю твой член тугим,
Как тетиву на луке.
Войди, как олень к лани,
С всегда неистощимым (членом)!

Velut nervum in arcu ego tuum fascinum extendo. Aggredere
(mulierem) semper indefessus velut cervus damam.

I stiffen thy pasas as a bowstring upon the bow. Embrace thou (women) as the antelope buck the gazelle with ever unfailing (strength)!

avś_04.004.08.

अ॒श्वस्याश्वतर॒स्याज॒स्य पे॒त्वस्य च ।
अ॒थ ऋषभ॒स्य ये॒ वा॒जास् ता॒न् अस्मि॒न् धेहि तनूवशिन् ॥८॥

áśvasyāśvatarásyājásya pétvasya ca |
átha r̥ṣabhásya yé vā́jās tā́n asmín dhehi tanūvaśin ||8||

Те силы, что у коня, у мула,
У козла и у барана,
А также у быка,
Вложи их в него, о властитель тела!

Quae sunt equi vires, muli, capri, arietis, atque tauri, illas, cor-
poris potens! in hoc homine depone.

The strength of the horse, the mule, the goat and the ram, moreover the strength of the bull bestow upon him, O controller of bodies (Indra)!
