ब्राह्मणो॒ जज्ञे प्रथमो॒ द॒शशीर्षो द॒शास्यः ।
स॒ सो॒मं प्रथमः॒ पपौ स॒ चकारारसं॒ विष॒म् ॥१॥

brāhmaṇó jajñe prathamó dáśaśīrṣo dáśāsyaḥ |
sá sómaṃ prathamáḥ papau sá cakārārasáṃ viṣám ||1||

Брахман родился первым,
Десятиглавый, десятиротый.
Он первым выпил сому.
Он сделал яд лишенным сока.

The Brāhman first was brought to life ten-headed and with faces
ten.
First drinker of the Soma, he made poison ineffectual.

The Brāhmana was the first to be born, with ten heads and ten mouths. He was the first to drink the soma; that did render poison powerless.

avś_04.006.02.

या॒वती द्या॒वापृथिवी॒ वरिम्णा॒ या॒वत् सप्त॒ सि॒न्धवो वितष्ठिरे॒ ।
वा॒चं विष॒स्य दू॒षणीं ता॒म् इतो॒ नि॒र् अवादिषम् ॥२॥

yā́vatī dyā́vāpr̥thivī́ varimṇā́ yā́vat saptá síndhavo vitaṣṭhiré |
vā́caṃ viṣásya dū́ṣaṇīṃ tā́m itó nír avādiṣam ||2||

Насколько (велики) протяженностью
Небо-и-Земля,
Насколько простерлись семь рек, (Настолько) я послал отсюда звучать Эту речь, губительную для яда.

Far as the heavens and earth are spread in compass, far as the
Seven Rivers are extended,
So far my spell, the antidote of poison, have I spoken hence,

As great as heaven and earth are in extent, as far as the seven streams did spread, so far from here have I proclaimed forth this charm that destroys poison.

avś_04.006.03.

सुपर्ण॒स् त्वा गरु॒त्मान् वि॒ष प्रथम॒म् आवयत् ।
ना॒मीमदो ना॒रूरुप उता॒स्मा अभवः पितुः॒ ॥३॥

suparṇás tvā garútmān víṣa prathamám āvayat |
nā́mīmado nā́rūrupa utā́smā abhavaḥ pitúḥ ||3||

Орел крылатый тебя
Отведал первым, о яд.
Ты не одурманил, не сломил его, А стал питьем ему.

The strong-winged Bird Garutmān first of all, O Poison fed on
thee:
Thou didst not gripe or make him drunk: aye, thou becamest
food for him.

The eagle Garutmant did, O poison, first devour thee. Thou didst not bewilder him, didst not injure him, yea, thou didst turn into food for him.

avś_04.006.04.

य॒स् त आ॒स्यत् प॒ञ्चाङ्गुरिर् वक्रा॒च् चिद् अ॒धि ध॒न्वनः ।
अपस्कम्भ॒स्य शल्या॒न् नि॒र् अवोचम् अहं॒ विष॒म् ॥४॥

yás ta ā́syat páñcāṅgurir vakrā́c cid ádhi dhánvanaḥ |
apaskambhásya śalyā́n nír avocam aháṃ viṣám ||4||

(Тот) с пятью пальцами, кто поразил тебя
Из какого-то изогнутого лука, -
Из наконечника (его)... Я заговорил яд.

Whoever with five fingers hath discharged thee from the crooked
bow,
I from the shaft have charmed away the poison of the fastening
band.

The five-fingered hand that did hurl upon thee (the arrow) even from the curved bow — from the point of the tearing (arrow) have I charmed away the poison.

avś_04.006.05.

शल्या॒द् विषं॒ नि॒र् अवोचम् प्रा॒ञ्जनाद् उत॒ पर्णधेः॒ ।
अपाष्ठा॒च् छृ॒ङ्गात् कु॒ल्मलान् नि॒र् अवोचम् अह॒म् विष॒म् ॥५॥

śalyā́d viṣáṃ nír avocam prā́ñjanād utá parṇadhéḥ |
apāṣṭhā́c chŕ̥ṅgāt kúlmalān nír avocam ahám viṣám ||5||

Из наконечника я заговорил яд,
Из окраски, из оперения.
Из зубца, из рога, из шейки (стрелы) Я заговорил яд.

The poison have I charmed away from shaft, cement, and feather-
ed end;
Yea, from the barb, the neck, the horn, the poison have I charmed
away.

From the point (of the arrow) have I charmed away the poison, from the substance that has been smeared upon it, and from its plume. From its barbed horn, and its neck, I have charmed away the poison.

avś_04.006.06.

अरस॒स् त इषो शल्यो॒ ऽथो ते अरसं॒ विष॒म् ।
उता॒रस॒स्य वृक्ष॒स्य ध॒नुष् टे अरसारस॒म् ॥६॥

arasás ta iṣo śalyó 'tho te arasáṃ viṣám |
utā́rasásya vr̥kṣásya dhánuṣ ṭe arasārasám ||6||

Лишен сока, о стрела, твой наконечник,
И яд твой тоже лишен сока.
И (сделанный) из дерева, лишенного сока, Твой лук лишен сока, о лишенный сока!

Feeble, O Arrow, is thy shaft, thy poison, too, hath lost its
strength.
Made of a worthless tree, thy bow, O feeble one, is impotent.

Powerless, O arrow, is thy point, and powerless is thy poison. Moreover of powerless wood is thy powerless bow, O powerless (arrow)!

avś_04.006.07.

ये॒ अ॒पीषन् ये॒ अ॒दिहन् य॒ आ॒स्यन् ये॒ अवा॒सृजन् ।
स॒र्वे ते व॒ध्रयः कृता॒ व॒ध्रिर् विषगिरिः॒ कृतः॒ ॥७॥

yé ápīṣan yé ádihan yá ā́syan yé avā́sr̥jan |
sárve te vádhrayaḥ kr̥tā́ vádhrir viṣagiríḥ kr̥táḥ ||7||

Кто растирал, кто мазал,
Кто метал, кто выпускал (стрелу) - Все они сделаны скопцами, Гора с ядом сделана скопцом.

The men who brayed it, smeared it on, they who discharged it,
sent it forth,
All these are made emasculate, emasculate the poison-hill.

They that ground (the poison), they that daubed it on, they that hurled it, and they that let it go, all these have been rendered impotent. The mountain that grows poisonous plants has been rendered impotent.

avś_04.006.08.

व॒ध्रयस् ते खनिता॒रो व॒ध्रिस् त्व॒म् अस्य् ओषधे ।
व॒ध्रिः स॒ प॒र्वतो गिरि॒र् य॒तो जात॒म् इदं॒ विष॒म् ॥८॥

vádhrayas te khanitā́ro vádhris tvám asy oṣadhe |
vádhriḥ sá párvato girír yáto jātám idáṃ viṣám ||8||

Скопцы те, кто тебя копает,
Скопец (и) ты, о растение,
Скопец этот утес-скала,
Откуда родился этот яд.

Thy diggers are emasculate, emasculate, O, Plant art thou.
The rugged mountain that produced this poison is emasculate.

Impotent are they that dig thee, impotent art thou, O plant! Impotent is that mountain height whence this poison has sprung.
