उतो॒ अस्य् अ॒बन्धुकृद् उतो॒ असि नु॒ जामिकृ॒त् ।
उतो॒ कृत्याकृ॒तः प्रजां॒ नद॒म् इवा॒ छिन्धि वा॒र्षिकम् ॥१॥

utó asy ábandhukr̥d utó asi nú jāmikŕ̥t |
utó kr̥tyākŕ̥taḥ prajā́ṃ nadám ivā́ chindhi vā́rṣikam ||1||

Как ты создаешь отсутствие родни,
Так сейчас ты создаешь кровное родство.
А вот потомство колдуна
Срежь как прошлогодний тростник!

Thou breakest ties of kith and kin, thou causest, too, relation-
ship:
So bruise the sorcerer's offspring, like a reed that groweth in the
Rains.

On the one hand thou deprivest of kin, on the other thou now procurest kinfolk. Do thou, moreover, cut the offspring of him that practises spells, as a reed that springs up in the rain!

avś_04.019.02.

ब्राह्मणे॒न प॒र्युक्तासि क॒ण्वेन नार्षदे॒न ।
से॒नेवैषि त्वि॒षीमती न॒ त॒त्र भय॒म् अस्ति य॒त्र प्राप्नो॒ष्य् ओषधे ॥२॥

brāhmaṇéna páryuktāsi káṇvena nārṣadéna |
sénevaiṣi tvíṣīmatī ná tátra bhayám asti yátra prāpnóṣy oṣadhe ||2||

Брахман заговорил тебя,
Канва, сын Нришады.
Ты движешься, словно неистовое войско.
Нет страха там,
Куда ты попадаешь, о растение.

Thou hast been blessed with blessing by the Brāhman, Kanva
Nārshada.
Thou fliest like a flashing dart: there is no fear or danger, Plant!
within the limit of thy range.

By a Brāhmana thou hast been blest, by Kanva, the descendant of Nrishad. Thou goest like a stronor army; where thou hast arrived, O plant, there there is no fear.

avś_04.019.03.

अ॒ग्रम् एष्य् ओ॒षधीनां ज्यो॒तिषेवाभिदीप॒यन् ।
उत॒ त्राता॒सि पा॒कस्या॒थो हन्ता॒सि रक्ष॒सः ॥३॥

ágram eṣy óṣadhīnāṃ jyótiṣevābhidīpáyan |
utá trātā́si pā́kasyā́tho hantā́si rakṣásaḥ ||3||

Ты идешь во главе растений, Словно светом (всё) озаряя. Ты и спаситель простодушного, И убийца ракшаса.

Illumining, as 'twere, with light, thou movest at the head of
plants.
The saviour of the simple man art thou, and slayer of the fiends.

Thou goest at the head of the plants, spreading lustre, as if with a light. Thou art on the one hand the protector of the weak, on the other the slayer of the Rakshas.

avś_04.019.04.

य॒द् अदो॒ देवा॒ अ॒सुरांस् त्व॒या॒ग्रे निर॒कुर्वत ।
त॒तस् त्व॒म् अ॒ध्य् ओषधे ऽपामार्गो॒ अजायथाः ॥४॥

yád adó devā́ ásurāṃs tváyā́gre nirákurvata |
tátas tvám ádhy oṣadhe 'pāmārgó ajāyathāḥ ||4||

Когда там вначале боги
С твоей помощью изгнали асуров, С тех пор, о растение, Ты родилось ках апамарга.

As once when time began the Gods with thee expelled the
Asuras,
Even thence, O Plant, wast thou produced as one who wipes and
sweeps away.

When of yore, in the beginning, the gods drove out the Asuras with thee, then, O plant, thou wast begotten as apāmārga ('wiping out').

avś_04.019.05.

विभिन्दती॒ शत॒शाखा विभिन्द॒न् ना॒म ते पिता॒ ।
प्रत्य॒ग् वि॒ भिन्धि त्वं॒ तं॒ यो॒ अस्मां॒ अभिदा॒सति ॥५॥

vibhindatī́ śatáśākhā vibhindán nā́ma te pitā́ |
pratyág ví bhindhi tváṃ táṃ yó asmā́ṃ abhidā́sati ||5||

Раскалывающее, с сотней ветвей... "Раскалывающий" по имени твой отец. (Обернувшись) вспять, расколи ты того, Кто враждебен к нам!

Thy father's name was Cleaver. Thou with thousand branches
cleavest all.
Do thou, turned backward, cleave and rend the man who treateth
us as foes.

Thou cuttest to pieces (vibhindatī), and hast a hundred branches; vibhindant ('cutting to pieces') is thy father's name. Do thou (turn) against, and cut to pieces (vi bhindhi) him that is hostile towards us!

avś_04.019.06.

अ॒सद् भू॒म्याः स॒म् अभवत् त॒द् या॒म् एति मह॒द् व्य॒चः ।
त॒द् वै॒ त॒तो विधूपाय॒त् प्रत्य॒क् कर्ता॒रम् ऋछतु ॥६॥

ásad bhū́myāḥ sám abhavat tád yā́m eti mahád vyácaḥ |
tád vái táto vidhūpāyát pratyák kartā́ram r̥chatu ||6||

He-сущее возникло из земли.
Оно идет на небо, в великое пространство.
Оттуда испаряясь, оно же
Пусть поразит обратно сотворившего колдовство!

The evil sprang from earth; it mounts to heaven and spreads to
vast extent.
Reverted, shaking him with might, thence on its maker let it
fall.

Non-being arose from the earth, that goes to heaven, (as) a great expansion. Thence, verily, that, spreading vapours, shall turn against the performer (of spells)!

avś_04.019.07.

प्रत्य॒ङ् हि॒ संबभू॒विथ प्रतीची॒नफलस् त्व॒म् ।
स॒र्वान् म॒च् छप॒थाम् अ॒धि व॒रीयो यावया वध॒म् ॥७॥

pratyáṅ hí saṃbabhū́vitha pratīcī́naphalas tvám |
sárvān mác chapáthām ádhi várīyo yāvayā vadhám ||7||

Раз ты возникло перевернутым,
Перевернутые у тебя плоды -
Да прогонишь ты от меня подальше Все проклятия, смертельное оружие!

For thou hast grown reverted, and turned backward also is thy
fruit.
Remove all curses far from me, keep most remote the stroke of
death.

Thou didst grow backward, thou hast fruit which is turned backward. Ward off from me all curses, ward off very far destructive weapons!

avś_04.019.08.

शते॒न मा प॒रि पाहि सह॒स्रेणाभि॒ रक्षा मा ।
इ॒न्द्रस् ते वीरुधां पत उग्र॒ ओज्मा॒नम् आ॒ दधत् ॥८॥

śaténa mā pári pāhi sahásreṇābhí rakṣā mā |
índras te vīrudhāṃ pata ugrá ojmā́nam ā́ dadhat ||8||

Сотней защити меня вокруг!
Тысячей охрани меня!
Грозный Индра, о повелитель растений, Да наделит тебя силой!

Preserve me with a hundred, yea, protect me with a thousand
aids.
May mighty Indra, Lord of Plants! give store of strength and.
power to thee.

Protect me with a hundredfold, guard me with a thousandfold (strength)! Indra, the strong, shall put strength into thee, O prince of plants!
