वि॒हृदयं वैमनस्यं॒ व॒दामि॒त्रेषु दुन्दुभे ।
विद्वेषं॒ क॒श्मशं भय॒म् अमि॒त्रेषु नि॒ दध्मस्य् अ॒व एनान् दुन्दुभे जहि ॥१॥
víhr̥dayaṃ vaimanasyáṃ vádāmítreṣu dundubhe |
vidveṣáṃ káśmaśaṃ bhayám amítreṣu ní dadhmasy áva enān dundubhe jahi ||1||
Разброд сердец, разброд мыслей Провещай, барабан, среди недругов! Ненависть, малодушие (?), страх Мы вкладываем в недругов. Прибей же их, о барабан!
Speak to our enemies, O Drum, discouragement and wild
dismay.
We bring upon our foemen fear and discord and discomfiture.
Drum! drive these enemies away.
Carry with thy voice, O drum, lack of heart, and failure of courage among the enemies! Disagreement, dismay, and fright, do we place into the enemies: beat them down, O drum!
avś_05.021.02.
उद्वे॒पमाना म॒नसा च॒क्षुषा हृ॒दयेन च ।
धा॒वन्तु बि॒भ्यतो ऽमि॒त्राः प्रत्रासे॒ना॒ज्ये हुते॒ ॥२॥
udvépamānā mánasā cákṣuṣā hŕ̥dayena ca |
dhā́vantu bíbhyato 'mítrāḥ pratrāsénā́jye huté ||2||
Трепеща мыслью, Взглядом и сердцем,
Да обратятся в бегство испуганные недруги, дрожа Мелкой дрожью, когда возлито жертвенное масло!
When sacrificial butter hath been offered, let our foemen flee.
Through consternation, terrified, trembling in mind and eye and
heart.
Agitated in their minds, their sight, their hearts, the enemies shall run, frightened with terror, when our oblation has been offered!
avś_05.021.03.
वानस्पत्यः॒ सं॒भृत उस्रि॒याभिर् विश्व॒गोत्र्यः ।
प्रत्रास॒म् अमि॒त्रेभ्यो वदा॒ज्येनाभि॒घारितः ॥३॥
vānaspatyáḥ sáṃbhr̥ta usríyābhir viśvágotryaḥ |
pratrāsám amítrebhyo vadā́jyenābhíghāritaḥ ||3||
Сделанный из лесного дерева, соединившийся
С рыжими (коровами), принадлежащий всем семьям, Провещай дрожь недругам, Окропленный жертвенным маслом!
Wrought out of wood, compact with straps of leather, dear to
all the clan,
Bedewed with sacrificial oil, speak terror to our enemies.
Made of wood, equipped with the skin of the cow, at home with every clan, put thou with thy voice terror into the enemies, when thou hast been anointed with ghee!
avś_05.021.04.
य॒था मृगाः॒ संविज॒न्त आरण्याः॒ पु॒रुषाद् अ॒धि ।
एव॒ त्वं॒ दुन्दुभे ऽमि॒त्रान् अभि॒ क्रन्द प्र॒ त्रासया॒थो चित्ता॒नि मोहय ॥४॥
yáthā mr̥gā́ḥ saṃvijánta āraṇyā́ḥ púruṣād ádhi |
evá tváṃ dundubhe 'mítrān abhí kranda prá trāsayā́tho cittā́ni mohaya ||4||
Как звери лесные
Кидаются от человека,
Так ты, барабан,зареви
На недругов, приведи (их) в трепет И смути (их) замыслы!
As the wild creatures of the wood flee in their terror from a
man,
Even so do thou, O Drum, roar out against our foes to frighten
them, and then bewilder thou their thoughts.
As the wild animals of the forest start in fear from man, thus do thou, O drum, shout against the enemies, frighten them away, and bewilder their minds!
avś_05.021.05.
य॒था वृ॒काद् अजाव॒यो धा॒वन्ति बहु॒ बि॒भ्यतीः ।
एव॒ त्वं॒ दुन्दुभे ऽमि॒त्रान् अभि॒ क्रन्द प्र॒ त्रासया॒थो चित्ता॒नि मोहय ॥५॥
yáthā vŕ̥kād ajāváyo dhā́vanti bahú bíbhyatīḥ |
evá tváṃ dundubhe 'mítrān abhí kranda prá trāsayā́tho cittā́ni mohaya ||5||
Как от волка бегут
Козы и овцы, страшно перепуганные, Так ты, барабан,зареви
На недругов, приведи (их) в трепет И смути (их) замыслы!
As, when the wolf approaches, goats and sheep run sorely
terrified,
Even so do thou, O Drum, roar out against our foes to frighten
them, and then bewilder thou their thoughts.
As goats and sheep run from the wolf, badly frightened, thus do thou, O drum, shout against the enemies, frighten them away, and bewilder their minds!
avś_05.021.06.
य॒था श्येना॒त् पतत्रि॒णः संविज॒न्ते अ॒हर्दिवि सिंह॒स्य स्तन॒थोर् य॒था ।
एव॒ त्वं॒ दुन्दुभे ऽमि॒त्रान् अभि॒ क्रन्द प्र॒ त्रासया॒थो चित्ता॒नि मोहय ॥६॥
yáthā śyenā́t patatríṇaḥ saṃvijánte áhardivi siṃhásya stanáthor yáthā |
evá tváṃ dundubhe 'mítrān abhí kranda prá trāsayā́tho cittā́ni mohaya ||6||
Как от коршуна птицы
Кидаются день за днем,
Как от рычания льва,
Так ты, барабан,зареви
На недругов, приведи (их) в трепет И смути (их) замыслы!
As birds of air, day after day, fly in wild terror from the hawk,
as from a roaring lion's voice,
Even so do thou, O Drum, roar out against our foes to frighten
them, and then bewilder thou their thoughts.
As birds start in fear from the eagle, as by day and by night (they start) at the roar of the lion, thus do thou, O drum, shout against the enemies, frighten them away, and bewilder their minds!
avś_05.021.07.
प॒रामि॒त्रान् दुन्दुभि॒ना हरिण॒स्याजि॒नेन च ।
स॒र्वे देवा॒ अतित्रसन् ये॒ संग्राम॒स्ये॒षते ॥७॥
párāmítrān dundubhínā hariṇásyājínena ca |
sárve devā́ atitrasan yé saṃgrāmásyéṣate ||7||
Прочь спугнули недругов
С помощью барабана и шкуры
Газели все (те) боги,
Что властвуют над битвой.
May all the deities whose might controls the fortune of the fray
Frighten away our enemies with Drum and skin of antelope.
With the drum and the skin of the antelope all the gods, that sway the battle, have scared away the enemies.
avś_05.021.08.
यै॒र् इ॒न्द्रः प्रक्री॒डते पद्घोषै॒श् छाय॒या सह॒ ।
तै॒र् अमि॒त्रास् त्रसन्तु नो ऽमी॒ ये॒ य॒न्त्य् अनीकशः॒ ॥८॥
yáir índraḥ prakrī́ḍate padghoṣáiś chāyáyā sahá |
táir amítrās trasantu no 'mī́ yé yánty anīkaśáḥ ||8||
Те звуки шагов вместе с отражением, Которыми Индра забавляется, - Да затрепещут от них наши недруги, Что движутся там отрядами!
Let those our enemies who go yonder in their battalions shake.
In fear at shadows and the sounds of feet which Indra sporteth
with.
At the noise of the beat of the feet when Indra disports himself, and at his shadow, our enemies yonder, that come in successive ranks, shall tremble!
avś_05.021.09.
ज्याघोषा॒ दुन्दुभ॒यो ऽभि॒ क्रोशन्तु या॒ दि॒शः ।
से॒नाः प॒राजिता यती॒र् अमि॒त्राणाम् अनीकशः॒ ॥९॥
jyāghoṣā́ dundubháyo 'bhí krośantu yā́ díśaḥ |
sénāḥ párājitā yatī́r amítrāṇām anīkaśáḥ ||9||
Пусть скрипы тетивы, барабаны Возопят в те стороны света, (Где находятся) разбитые войска Недругов, движущиеся отрядами.
To all the quarters of the sky let clang of bowstrings and our
Drums.
Cry out to hosts of foes that go discomfited in serried ranks.
The whirring of the bowstring and the drums shall shout at the directions where the conquered armies of the enemies go in successive ranks!
avś_05.021.10.
आ॒दित्य च॒क्षुर् आ॒ दत्स्व म॒रीचयो॒ ऽनु धावत ।
पत्सङ्गि॒नीर् आ॒ सजन्तु वि॒गते बाहुवीर्ये॑ ॥१०॥
ā́ditya cákṣur ā́ datsva márīcayó 'nu dhāvata |
patsaṅgínīr ā́ sajantu vígate bāhuvīryè ||10||
О Адитья, забери себе (их) зрение!
О лучи света, гонитесь за ними!
Да вопьются петли в ноги (вражеских войск), Когда сила уйдет из рук у них!
Āditya, take their sight away! Follow them close, ye motes of
light.
Let them cleave fast to foot-bound hosts when strength of arm
hath past away.
O sun, take away their sight; O rays, run after them; clinging to their feet, fasten yourselves upon them, when the strength of their arms is gone!
avś_05.021.11.
यूय॒म् उग्रा॒ मरुतः पृश्निमातर इ॒न्द्रेण युजा॒ प्र॒ मृनीत श॒त्रून् ।
सो॒मो रा॒जा व॒रुणो रा॒जा महादेव॒ उत॒ मृत्यु॒र् इ॒न्द्रः ॥११॥
yūyám ugrā́ marutaḥ pr̥śnimātara índreṇa yujā́ prá mr̥nīta śátrūn |
sómo rā́jā váruṇo rā́jā mahādevá utá mr̥tyúr índraḥ ||11||
О вы, грозные Маруты, (происходящие) от пестрой матери,
С Индрой-союзником размозжите (наших) врагов!
Сома-царь, Варуна-царь, великий бог, а также
Смерть, Индра -
Do ye, O mighty Maruts, sons of Prisni, crush down, with
Indra for ally, our foemen.
King Soma. Varuna, great God and sovran, Indra too, aye,
Death,—
Ye strong Maruts, Prisni's children, with Indra as an ally, crush ye the enemies; Soma the king (shall crush them), Varuna the king, Mahādeva, and also Mrityu (death), and Indra!
avś_05.021.12.
एता॒ देवसेनाः॒ सू॒र्यकेतवः स॒चेतसः ।
अमि॒त्रान् नो जयन्तु स्वा॒हा ॥१२॥
etā́ devasenā́ḥ sū́ryaketavaḥ sácetasaḥ |
amítrān no jayantu svā́hā ||12||
Эти войска богов, со знаменем-солнцем, в согласии, да победят
недругов наших! "Свага!"
May these embattled Gods, brilliant as Sūrya—All hail!—one-
minded conquer those who hate us.
These wise armies of the gods, having the sun as their ensign, shall conquer our enemies! Hail!
