अमू॒न् हेतिः॒ पतत्रि॒णी न्य् ए॑तु य॒द् उ॒लूको व॒दति मोघ॒म् एत॒त् ।
य॒द् वा कपो॒त पद॒म् अग्नौ॒ कृणो॒ति ॥१॥
amū́n hetíḥ patatríṇī ny ètu yád úlūko vádati moghám etát |
yád vā kapóta padám agnáu kr̥ṇóti ||1||
Вон на тех крылатых пусть падет дротик!
Что сова вещает - пустое это,
Или что голубь пробирается к огню.
On these men yonder fall the winged missile: the screeching of
the Owl is ineffective,
And that the Dove beside the fire hath settled.
Upon those persons yonder the winged missile shall fall! If the owl shrieks, futile shall this be, or if the pigeon takes his steps upon the fire!
avś_06.029.02.
यौ॒ ते दूतौ॒ निरृत इद॒म् एतो॒ ऽप्रहितौ प्र॒हितौ वा गृहं॒ नः ।
कपोतोलूका॒भ्याम् अ॒पदं त॒द् अस्तु ॥२॥
yáu te dūtáu nirr̥ta idám etó 'prahitau práhitau vā gr̥háṃ naḥ |
kapotolūkā́bhyām ápadaṃ tád astu ||2||
Два твоих вестника, о Ниррити, которые прибывают сюда,
Не посланные или посланные в наш дом, -
Да будет это не-местом для голубя и совы!
Thine envoys who came hither, O Destruction, sent or not sent
by thee unto our dwelling,
The Dove and Owl, effectless be their visit!
To thy two messengers, O Nirriti, who come here, despatched or not despatched, to our house, to the pigeon and to the owl, this shall be no place to step upon!
avś_06.029.03.
अवैरहत्या॒येद॒म् आ॒ पपत्यात् सुवीर॒ताया इद॒म् आ॒ ससद्यात् ।
प॒राङ् एव॒ प॒रा वद प॒राचीम् अ॒नु संव॒तम् ।
य॒था यम॒स्य त्वा गृहे॒ ऽरसं॒ प्रतिचा॒कशान् आभू॒कं प्रतिचा॒कशान् ॥३॥
avairahatyā́yedám ā́ papatyāt suvīrátāyā idám ā́ sasadyāt |
párāṅ evá párā vada párācīm ánu saṃvátam |
yáthā yamásya tvā gr̥hé 'rasáṃ praticā́kaśān ābhū́kaṃ praticā́kaśān ||3||
Пусть прилетит он сюда для неубийства героев!
Пусть устроится он здесь для процветания героев!
Отвернувшись в сторону, заговори (его) подальше,
На далекое расстояние!
Чтобы в доме Ямы на тебя Смотрели как на лишенного сока, (На тебя) смотрели как на бессильного!
Oft may it fly to us to save our heroes from slaughter, oft perch
here to bring fair offspring,
Turn thee and send thy voice afar: cry to the region far away;
That I may see thee in the home of Yama reft of all thy power,
that I may see thee impotent.
He shall not fly hither to slaughter (our) men; to keep (our) men sound he shall settle here! Charm .him very far away unto a distant region, that (people) shall behold you (i.e. him) in Yama's house devoid of strength, that they shall behold you bereft of power!
