यां॒ जम॒दग्निर् अ॒खनद् दुहित्रे॒ केशव॒र्धनीम् ।
तां॒ वीत॒हव्य आ॒भरद् अ॒सितस्य गृहे॒भ्यः ॥१॥

yā́ṃ jamádagnir ákhanad duhitré keśavárdhanīm |
tā́ṃ vītáhavya ā́bharad ásitasya gr̥hébhyaḥ ||1||

Для дочери как укрепляющую волосы,
Ее принес Витахавья
Из дома Аситы.

The Plant which Jamadagni dug to make his daughter's locks.
grow long,
This same hath Vitahavya brought to us from Asita's abode.

The (plant) that Gamadagni dug up to promote the growth of his daughter's hair, Vātahavya has brought here from the dwelling of Asita.

avś_06.137.02.

अभी॒शुना मे॒या आसन् व्यामे॒नानुमे॒याः ।
के॒शा नडा॒ इव वर्धन्तां शीर्ष्ण॒स् ते असिताः॒ प॒रि ॥२॥

abhī́śunā méyā āsan vyāménānuméyāḥ |
kéśā naḍā́ iva vardhantāṃ śīrṣṇás te asitā́ḥ pári ||2||

Их надо было мерить уздой, Потом мерить саженью. Пусть черные волосы растут Из твоей головы как тростники!

They might be measured with a rein, meted with both extended
arms.
Let the black locks spring thick and strong and grow like reeds
upon thy head.

With reins they had to be measured, with outstretched arms they had to be measured out. May thy hairs grow as reeds, may they (cluster), black, about thy head!

दृं॒ह मू॒लम् आ॒ग्रं यछ वि॒ म॒ध्यं यामयौषधे ।
के॒शा नडा॒ इव वर्धन्ताम् शीर्ष्ण॒स् ते असिताः॒ प॒रि ॥३॥

dŕ̥ṃha mū́lam ā́graṃ yacha ví mádhyaṃ yāmayauṣadhe |
kéśā naḍā́ iva vardhantām śīrṣṇás te asitā́ḥ pári ||3||

Укрепи корень, протяни конец, Вытяни середину, о трава! Пусть черные волосы растут Из твоей головы как тростники!

Strengthen the roots, prolong the points, lengthen the middle
part, O Plant.
Let the black locks spring thick and strong and grow like reeds
upon thy head.

Make firm their roots, draw out their ends, expand their middle., O herb! May thy hairs grow as reeds, may they (cluster), black, about thy head!
