य॒था वृक्ष॒म् अश॒निर् विश्वा॒हा ह॒न्त्य् अप्रति॒ ।
एवा॒ह॒म् अद्य॒ कितवा॒न् अक्षै॒र् बध्यासम् अप्रति॒ ॥१॥
yáthā vr̥kṣám aśánir viśvā́hā hánty apratí |
evā́hám adyá kitavā́n akṣáir badhyāsam apratí ||1||
Как молния дерево
Все дни поражает беспрепятственно,
Так я сегодня игроков
Хочу разбить беспрепятственно с помощью костей.
As evermore the lightning flash strikes, irresistible, the tree,
So, irresistible, may I conquer the gamblers with the dice.
As the lightning at all times smites irresistibly the tree, thus would I to-day irresistibly beat the gamesters with my dice!
avś_07.050.02.
तुरा॒णाम् अ॒तुराणां विशा॒म् अ॒वर्जुषीणाम् ।
समै॒तु विश्व॒तो भ॒गो अन्तर्हस्तं॒ कृतं॒ म॒म ॥२॥
turā́ṇām áturāṇāṃ viśā́m ávarjuṣīṇām |
samáitu viśváto bhágo antarhastáṃ kr̥táṃ máma ||2||
От проворных, от непроворных,
От людей, не удерживающихся (от игры), Пусть сойдется отовсюду удача - Выигрыш в моей руке!
From every side, from hale and sick, impotent to defend them-
selves,
May all the fortune of the folk as winnings pass into my hands.
Whether they be alert, or not alert, the fortune of (these) folks, unresisting, shall assemble from all sides, the gain (collect) within my hands!
avś_07.050.03.
ई॒डे अग्निं॒ स्वा॒वसुं न॒मोभिर् इह॒ प्रसक्तो॒ वि॒ चयत् कृतं॒ नः ।
र॒थैर् इव प्र॒ भरे वाज॒यद्भिः प्रदक्षिणं॒ मरु॒तां स्तो॒मम् ऋध्याम् ॥३॥
ī́ḍe agníṃ svā́vasuṃ námobhir ihá prasaktó ví cayat kr̥táṃ naḥ |
ráthair iva prá bhare vājáyadbhiḥ pradakṣiṇáṃ marútāṃ stómam r̥dhyām ||3||
Я славлю поклонениями Агни - хозяина добра. Устроенный здесь, пусть он различит счастливую взятку для нас! Я проношусь как на колесницах, стремящихся к добыче. Обратясь правой стороной, я хочу усиливать хвалу Марутов!
I pray to Agni, him who guards his treasure: here, won by
homage, may he pile our winnings.
As 'twere with racing cars I bring my presents: duly with
reverence, let me laud the Maruts.
I invoke with reverence Agni, who has his own riches; here attached he shall beap up gain for us! I procure (wealth) for myself, as if with chariots that win the race. May I accomplish auspiciously the song of praise to the Maruts!
avś_07.050.04.
वयं॒ जयेम त्व॒या युजा॒ वृ॒तम् अस्मा॒कम् अं॒शम् उ॒द् अव भ॒रेभरे ।
अस्म॒भ्यम् इन्द्र व॒रीयः सुगं॒ कृधि प्र॒ श॒त्रूणां मघवन् वृ॒ष्ण्या रुज ॥४॥
vayáṃ jayema tváyā yujā́ vŕ̥tam asmā́kam áṃśam úd ava bhárebhare |
asmábhyam indra várīyaḥ sugáṃ kr̥dhi prá śátrūṇāṃ maghavan vŕ̥ṣṇyā ruja ||4||
С тобою как с союзником мы хотели б победить
(вражеское) войско! Поддержи нашу ставку в каждом состязании! Создай нам, Индра, пошире пространство, легкий путь! Сломи силы мужества врагов, о щедрый!
With thee to aid us may we win the treasure: do thou assist
our side in every battle.
Give us wide room and easy way, O Indra; break down, O
Maghavan, the foemen's valour.
May we by thy aid conquer the (adversary s) troop; help us (to obtain) our share in every contest! Make for us, O Indra, a good and ample road; crush, O Maghavan, the lusty power of our enemies!
avś_07.050.05.
अ॒जैषं त्वा सं॒लिखितम् अ॒जैषम् उत॒ संरु॒धम् ।
अ॒विं वृ॒को य॒था म॒थद् एवा॒ मथ्नामि ते कृत॒म् ॥५॥
ájaiṣaṃ tvā sáṃlikhitam ájaiṣam utá saṃrúdham |
áviṃ vŕ̥ko yáthā máthad evā́ mathnāmi te kr̥tám ||5||
Я выиграл у тебя (то), что нацарапано,
Я выиграл и (то), что удержано.
Как волк треплет овцу,
Так я треплю твой выигрыш.
I have completely cleaned thee out, won from thee what thou
keptest back.
As a wolf tears and rends a sheep, so do I tear thy stake away.
I have conquered and cleaned thee out (?); I have also gained thy reserve. As the wolf plucks to pieces the sheep, thus do I pluck thy winnings.
avś_07.050.06.
उत॒ प्रहा॒म् अ॒तिदीवा जयति कृत॒म् इव श्वघ्नी॒ वि॒ चिनोति काले॒ ।
यो॒ देव॒कामो न॒ ध॒नम् रुण॒द्धि स॒म् इ॒त् तं॒ रायः॒ सृजति स्वधा॒भिः ॥६॥
utá prahā́m átidīvā jayati kr̥tám iva śvaghnī́ ví cinoti kālé |
yó devákāmo ná dhánam ruṇáddhi sám ít táṃ rāyáḥ sr̥jati svadhā́bhiḥ ||6||
И он побеждает, выиграв с риском преимущество,
Как настоящий игрок он вовремя раскладывает удачную взятку. Кто предан богам, не удерживает имущества - Ведь (бог) охотно соединяет его с богатством.
Yea, by superior play one gains advantage: in time he piles his
spoil as doth a gambler.
He overwhelms with wealth's inherent powers the devotee who
keeps not back his riches.
Even the strong hand the bold player conquers, as the skilled gambler heaps up his winnings at the proper time. Upon him that loves the game (the god), and does not spare his money, (the game, the god) verily bestows the delights of wealth.
avś_07.050.07.
गो॒भिष् टरेमा॒मतिं दुरे॒वां य॒वेन वा क्षु॒धं पुरुहूत वि॒श्वे ।
वयं॒ रा॒जसु प्रथमा॒ ध॒नान्य् अ॒रिष्टासो वृजनी॒भिर् जयेम ॥७॥
góbhiṣ ṭaremā́matiṃ durévāṃ yávena vā kṣúdhaṃ puruhūta víśve |
vayáṃ rā́jasu prathamā́ dhánāny áriṣṭāso vr̥janī́bhir jayema ||7||
С помощью коров пусть преодолеем мы плохо кончающееся
отсутствие мыслей, А с помощью ячменя все (мы преодолеем) голод,
о многопризываемый! Хитрыми замыслами, невредимые, мы хотим завоевать Богатства первыми среди царей!
May we all, much-invoked! repel with cattle want that brings
sin, hunger with store of barley.
May we uninjured, first among the princes, obtain possessions
by our own exertions.
Through (the possession of) cattle we all would suppress (our) wretched poverty, or with grain our hunger, O thou oft implored (god)! May we foremost among rulers, unharmed, gain wealth by our cunning devices!
avś_07.050.08.
कृतं॒ मे द॒क्षिणे ह॒स्ते जयो॒ मे सव्य॒ आ॒हितः ।
गोजि॒द् भूयासम् अश्वजि॒द् धनंजयो॒ हिरण्यजि॒त् ॥८॥
kr̥táṃ me dákṣiṇe háste jayó me savyá ā́hitaḥ |
gojíd bhūyāsam aśvajíd dhanaṃjayó hiraṇyajít ||8||
Выигрыш у меня в правой руке,
Победа у меня в левой находится.
Пусть стану я завоевателем коров, завоевателем коней, Завоевывающим богатство, завоевателем золота!
My right hand holds my winnings fast, and in my left is
victory.
I would that I were winner of cattle and horses, wealth and
gold.
Gain is deposited in my right hand, victory in my left. Let me become a conqueror of cattle, horses, wealth, and gold!
avś_07.050.09.
अ॒क्षाः फ॒लवतीम् द्यु॒वं दत्त॒ गां॒ क्षीरि॒णीम् इव ।
सं॒ मा कृत॒स्य धा॒रया ध॒नुः स्ना॒व्नेव नह्यत ॥९॥
ákṣāḥ phálavatīm dyúvaṃ dattá gā́ṃ kṣīríṇīm iva |
sáṃ mā kr̥tásya dhā́rayā dhánuḥ snā́vneva nahyata ||9||
О кости, дайте игру, приносящую результат,
Подобную молочной корове!
Охватите меня потоком выигрыша, Как лук - тетивой!
Dice, give me play that bringeth fruit as 'twere a cow with
flowing milk!
And, as the bowstring binds, the bow, unite me with a stream of
gains.
O dice, yield play, profitable as a cow that is rich in milk! Bind me to a streak of gain, as the bow (is bound) with the string!
