avś_10.001.01.

यां॒ कल्प॒यन्ति वहतौ॒ वधू॒म् इव विश्व॒रूपां ह॒स्तकृतां चिकित्स॒वः ।
सा॒रा॒द् एत्व् अ॒प नुदाम एनाम् ॥१॥

yā́ṃ kalpáyanti vahatáu vadhū́m iva viśvárūpāṃ hástakr̥tāṃ cikitsávaḥ |
sā́rā́d etv ápa nudāma enām ||1||

(Ее), сделанную руками, многообразную, кого умельцы
Готовят как невесту на свадьбу, —
Пусть она уберется подальше! Мы выталкиваем ее прочь!

Afar let her depart: away we drive her whom, made with hands,
all-beautiful,
Skilled men prepare and fashion like a bride amid her nuptial
train.

The (spell) which they skilfully prepare, as a bride for the wedding, the multiform (spell), fashioned by hand, shall go to a distance: we drive it away!

avś_10.001.02.

शीर्षण्व॒ती नस्व॒ती कर्णि॒णी कृत्याकृ॒ता सं॒भृता विश्व॒रूपा ।
सा॒रा॒द् एत्व् अ॒प नुदाम एनाम् ॥२॥

śīrṣaṇvátī nasvátī karṇíṇī kr̥tyākŕ̥tā sáṃbhr̥tā viśvárūpā |
sā́rā́d etv ápa nudāma enām ||2||

С головою, с носом, с ушами,
Составленная создателем ворожбы, многообразная —
Пусть она уберется подальше! Мы выталкиваем ее прочь!

Complete, with head and nose and ears, all-beauteous, wrought
with magic skill
Afar let her depart: away we drive her.

The (spell) that has been brought forward by the fashioner of the spell, that is endowed with head, endowed with nose, endowed with ears, and multiform, shall go to a distance: we drive it away!

avś_10.001.03.

शूद्र॒कृता रा॒जकृता स्त्री॒कृता ब्रह्म॒भिः कृता॒ ।
जाया॒ प॒त्या नुत्ते॒व कर्ता॒रं ब॒न्ध्व् ऋछतु ॥३॥

śūdrákr̥tā rā́jakr̥tā strī́kr̥tā brahmábhiḥ kr̥tā́ |
jāyā́ pátyā nuttéva kartā́raṃ bándhv r̥chatu ||3||

Созданная шудрой, созданная раджей,
Созданная женщиной, созданная брахмáнами,
Как жена, вытолкнутая мужем,
Пусть она по родству попадет к (своему) создателю!

Made by a Sidra or a Prince, by priests or women let her go.
Back to her maker as her kin, like a dame banished by her lord.

(The spell) that has been prepared by a Sadra, prepared by a Rāga, prepared by a woman, prepared by Brahmans, as a wife rejected by her husband, shall recoil upon her fabricator, (and) his kin!

avś_10.001.04.

अन॒याह॒म् ओ॒षध्या स॒र्वाः कृत्या॒ अदूदुषम् ।
यां॒ क्षे॒त्रे चक्रु॒र् यां॒ गो॒षु यां॒ वा ते पु॒रुषेषु ॥४॥

anáyāhám óṣadhyā sárvāḥ kr̥tyā́ adūduṣam |
yā́ṃ kṣétre cakrúr yā́ṃ góṣu yā́ṃ vā te púruṣeṣu ||4||

С помощью этой травы я
Испортил все виды ворожбы,
Какую создали в поле, какую в коровах
Или какую в твоих людях.

I with this salutary herb have ruined all their magic arts,
The spell which they have cast upon thy field, thy cattle, or thy
men.

With this herb have I destroyed all spells, that which they have put into thy field, into thy cattle, and into thy men.

avś_10.001.05.

अघ॒म् अस्त्व् अघकृ॒ते शप॒थः शपथीयते॒ ।
प्रत्य॒क् प्रतिप्र॒हिण्मो य॒था कृत्याकृ॒तं ह॒नत् ॥५॥

aghám astv aghakŕ̥te śapáthaḥ śapathīyaté |
pratyák pratipráhiṇmo yáthā kr̥tyākŕ̥taṃ hánat ||5||

Беда пусть будет для сотворившего беду,
Проклятье для проклинающего.
Обратно мы отправляем (ее),
Чтоб убила она создавшего ворожбу!

Ill fall on him who doeth ill, on him who curseth fall the
curse!
We drive her back that she may slay the man who wrought the
witchery.

Evil be to him that prepares evil, the curse shall recoil upon him that utters curses: back do we hurl it against him, that it may slay him that fashions the spell.

avś_10.001.06.

प्रतीची॒न आङ्गिरसो॒ ऽध्यक्षो नः पुरो॒हितः ।
प्रती॒चीः कृत्या॒ आकृ॒त्यामू॒न् कृत्याकृ॒तो जहि ॥६॥

pratīcī́na āṅgirasó 'dhyakṣo naḥ puróhitaḥ |
pratī́cīḥ kr̥tyā́ ākŕ̥tyāmū́n kr̥tyākŕ̥to jahi ||6||

Повѐрнут вспять Ангираса,
Предназначенный нам верховный надсмотрщик.
Обратив вспять (все виды) ворожбы,
Убей тех, создавших ворожбу!

Against her comes the Angirasa, the Priest whose eye is over us.
Turn back all witcheries and slay those practisers of magic arts.

Pratikīna (' Back-hurler'), the descendant of Angiras, is our overseer and officiator (purohita): do thou drive back again (pratīkīh) the spells, and slay yonder fashioners of the spells!

avś_10.001.07.

य॒स् त्वोवा॒च प॒रेही॒ति प्रतिकू॒लम् उदाय्य॑म् ।
तं॒ कृत्ये ऽभिनि॒वर्तस्व मा॒स्मा॒न् इछो अनाग॒सः ॥७॥

yás tvovā́ca párehī́ti pratikū́lam udāyyàm |
táṃ kr̥tye 'bhinívartasva mā́smā́n icho anāgásaḥ ||7||

Кто сказал тебе: «Иди дальше!»,
Против течения, вверх по течению —
О ворожба, возвратись к нему!
Не ищи нас, безвинных!

Whoever said to thee, Go forth against the foeman up the
stream,
To him, O Krityā, go thou back. Pursue not us, the sinless
ones.

He that has said to thee (the spell): 'go on'! upon that enemy, that antagonist do thou turn, O spell: do not seek out us, that are harmless!

avś_10.001.08.

य॒स् ते प॒रूंषि संदधौ॒ र॒थस्येव र्भु॒र् धिया॒ ।
तं॒ गछ त॒त्र ते॒ ऽयनम् अ॒ज्ञातस् ते ऽयं॒ ज॒नः ॥८॥

yás te párūṃṣi saṃdadháu ráthasyeva rbhúr dhiyā́ |
táṃ gacha tátra té 'yanam ájñātas te 'yáṃ jánaḥ ||8||

Кто сложил вместе твои суставы,
Как Рибху с умением (части) колесницы,
К нему (и) иди! Там твой путь.
Этот человек тебе неизвестен.

He who composed thy limbs with thought as a deft joiner builds
a car,
Go to him: thither lies thy way. This man is all unknown to
thee.

He that has fitted together thy joints with skill, as the wagoner (Ribhu) the joints of a chariot, to him go, there is thy course: this person here shall remain unknown to thee!

avś_10.001.09.

ये॒ त्वा कृत्वा॒लेभिरे॒ विद्वला॒ अभिचारि॒णः ।
शंभ्व् इ॑दं॒ कृत्यादू॒षणं प्रतिवर्त्म॒ पुनःसरं॒ ते॒न त्वा स्नपयामसि ॥९॥

yé tvā kr̥tvā́lebhiré vidvalā́ abhicāríṇaḥ |
śaṃbhv ìdáṃ kr̥tyādū́ṣaṇaṃ prativartmá punaḥsaráṃ téna tvā snapayāmasi ||9||

(Те), кто, создав тебя, овладели (тобой),
Хитрые колдуны —
(Вот) этот благотворный губитель ворожбы,
Противодействующий, движущийся обратно,
Им мы тебя обмываем.

The cunning men, the sorcerers who fashioned thee and held thee
fast,—
This cures and mars their witchery, this, repellent, drives it back
the way it came. With this we make thee swim.

They that have prepared thee and taken hold of thee, the cunning wizards-this is what cures it, destroys the spell, drives it back the opposite way - with it do we bathe thee.

avś_10.001.10.

य॒द् दुर्भ॒गां प्र॒स्नपितां मृत॒वत्साम् उपेयिम॒ ।
अ॒पैतु स॒र्वं म॒त् पापं॒ द्र॒विणं मो॒प तिष्ठतु ॥१०॥ {१}

yád durbhágāṃ prásnapitāṃ mr̥távatsām upeyimá |
ápaitu sárvaṃ mát pāpáṃ dráviṇaṃ mópa tiṣṭhatu ||10|| {1}

Так как мы подошли к приносящей беду,
Выкупанной, с мертвым ребенком —
Пусть уйдет прочь от меня все зло!
Пусть придет ко мне имущество!

When we have found her ducked and drenched, a hapless cow
whose calf hath died,
Let all my woe depart and let abundant riches come to me.

Since we have come upon the wretched (spell), as upon (a cow) with a dead calf, flooded away (by a river), may all evil go away from me, and mav possessions come to me!

avś_10.001.11.

य॒त् ते पितृ॒भ्यो द॒दतो यज्ञे॒ वा ना॒म जगृहुः॒ ।
संदेश्या॑त् स॒र्वस्मात् पापा॒द् इमा॒ मुञ्चन्तु त्वौ॒षधीः ॥११॥

yát te pitŕ̥bhyo dádato yajñé vā nā́ma jagr̥húḥ |
saṃdeśyā̀t sárvasmāt pāpā́d imā́ muñcantu tváuṣadhīḥ ||11||

Если они захватили на жертвоприношении имя твое,
Отдавая (его) отцам, —
От всего предназначенного зла
Пусть освободят тебя эти растения!

If, as they gave thy parents aught, they named thee, or at sacri-
fice,
From all their purposed evil let these healing herbs deliver thee.

If (thy enemies) have made (offerings) to thy Fathers, or have called thy name at the sacrifice, may these herbs free thee from every indigenous evil!

avś_10.001.12.

देवैनसा॒त् पि॒त्र्यान् नामग्राहा॒त् संदेश्या॑द् अभिनि॒ष्कृतात् ।
मुञ्च॒न्तु त्वा वीरु॒धो वीर्येण ब्र॒ह्मणा ऋग्भिः॒ प॒यसा ऋ॒षीणाम् ॥१२॥

devainasā́t pítryān nāmagrāhā́t saṃdeśyā̀d abhiníṣkr̥tāt |
muñcántu tvā vīrúdho vīryeṇa bráhmaṇā r̥gbhíḥ páyasā ŕ̥ṣīṇām ||12||

От греха против богов, против отцов,
От захвата имени, предназначенного (и) предусмотренного,
Пусть освободят тебя растения (своим) могуществом,
Заговором, гимнами, молоком риши!

From mention of thy name, from sin against the Fathers or the
Gods,
These herbs of healing shall by prayer release thee, by power,
by holy texts, the milk of .Rishis.

From the sin of the gods, and that of the fathers, from mentions of (thy) name, from (evil schemes) concocted at home, may the herbs free thee with might, through (this) charm, (and these) stanzas, (that are) the milk of the Rishis!

avś_10.001.13.

य॒था वा॒तश् च्याव॒यति भू॒म्या रेणु॒म् अन्त॒रिक्षाच् चाभ्र॒म् ।
एवा॒ म॒त् स॒र्वं दुर्भूतं॒ ब्र॒ह्मनुत्तम् अ॒पायति ॥१३॥

yáthā vā́taś cyāváyati bhū́myā reṇúm antárikṣāc cābhrám |
evā́ mát sárvaṃ durbhūtáṃ bráhmanuttam ápāyati ||13||

Как ветер поднимает пыль с земли
И прогоняет тучу в воздухе,
Так пусть уйдет от меня
Все несчастливое, вытолкнутое заговором!

As the wind stirs the dust from earth and drives the rain cloud
from the sky,
So, chased and banished by the spell, all misery departs from
me.

As the wind stirs up the dust from the earth, and the cloud from the atmosphere, thus may all misfortune, driven by my charm, go away from me!

avś_10.001.14.

अ॒प क्राम ना॒नदती वि॒नद्धा गर्दभी॒व ।
कर्तृ॒̄न् नक्षस्वेतो॒ नुत्ता॒ ब्र॒ह्मणा वीर्या॑वता ॥१४॥

ápa krāma nā́nadatī vínaddhā gardabhī́va |
kartr̥̄́n nakṣasvetó nuttā́ bráhmaṇā vīryā̀vatā ||14||

Отступи, громко ревя,
Как отвязанная ослица!
Доберись до (своих) создателей,
Вытолкнутая отсюда мощным заговором!

Go with a resonant cry, depart, like a she-ass whose cords are
loosed.
Go to thy makers: hence! away! Go driven by the potent
spell.

Stride away (O spell), like a loudly braying she-ass, that has been loosened (from the tether); reach those that have fabricated thee, driven from here by (my) forceful charm!

avś_10.001.15.

अयं॒ प॒न्थाः कृत्ये॒ति त्वा नयामो ऽभिप्र॒हितां प्र॒ति त्वा प्र॒ हिण्मः ।
ते॒नाभि॒ याहि भञ्जत्य् अ॒नस्वतीव वाहि॒नी विश्व॒रूपा कुरूति॒नी ॥१५॥

ayáṃ pánthāḥ kr̥tyéti tvā nayāmo 'bhipráhitāṃ práti tvā prá hiṇmaḥ |
ténābhí yāhi bhañjaty ánasvatīva vāhínī viśvárūpā kurūtínī ||15||

«Вот (твой) путь, ворожба!» — с этими словами мы уводим тебя.
Посланную против (нас), мы отсылаем тебя обратно.
Этим (путем) иди на (них), ломая (все),
Как движущийся отряд с повозками,
Многообразная, украшенная венцом (?)!

This, Krityā, is thy path, we say, and guide thee. We drive thee
back who hast been sent against us.
Go by this pathway, breaking loose for onslaught even as a host
complete with cars and horses.

'This is the way, O spell,' with these words do we lead thee. Thee that hast been sent Out against us do we send back again. Go this way like a crushing army, with heavy carts, thou that art multiform, and crowned by a crest(?)!

avś_10.001.16.

प॒राक् ते ज्यो॒तिर् अ॒पथं ते अर्वा॒ग् अन्य॒त्रास्म॒द् अ॒यना कृणुष्व ।
प॒रेणेहि नवतिं॒ नाव्या॑ अ॒ति दुर्गाः॒ स्रोत्या॒ मा॒ क्षणिष्ठाः प॒रेहि ॥१६॥

párāk te jyótir ápathaṃ te arvā́g anyátrāsmád áyanā kr̥ṇuṣva |
páreṇehi navatíṃ nāvyā̀ áti durgā́ḥ srotyā́ mā́ kṣaṇiṣṭhāḥ párehi ||16||

Прочь (отвратился) свет от тебя. Сюда тебе нет пути.
Направляйся в другое место от нас!
Иди дальним (путем) через девяносто судоходных труднопроходимых
Потоков! Не порань себя (?)! Иди подальше!

No path leads hitherward for thee to travel. Turn thee from us:
far off, thy light is yonder.
Fly hence across the ninety floods, the rivers most hard to pass.
Begone, and be not wounded.

In the distance there is light for thee, hitherward there is no road for thee; away from us take thy course! By another road cross thou ninety navigable streams, hard to cross! Do not injure, go away!

avś_10.001.17.

वा॒त इव वृक्षा॒न् नि॒ मृणीहि पाद॒य मा॒ गा॒म् अ॒श्वं पु॒रुषम् उ॒च् छिष एषाम् ।
कर्तृ॒̄न् निवृ॒त्येतः॒ कृत्ये ऽप्रजास्त्वा॒य बोधय ॥१७॥

vā́ta iva vr̥kṣā́n ní mr̥ṇīhi pādáya mā́ gā́m áśvaṃ púruṣam úc chiṣa eṣām |
kartr̥̄́n nivŕ̥tyetáḥ kr̥tye 'prajāstvā́ya bodhaya ||17||

Сломи (их), как ветер — деревья, свали!
Не оставь корову, коня (или) человека у них!
Повернувшись отсюда к (своим) создателям, о ворожба,
Пробуди их на бездетность!

As wind the trees, so smite and overthrow them: leave not cow,
horse, or man of them surviving
Return, O Krityā, unto those who made thee. Wake them from
sleep to find that they are childless.

As the wind the trees, crush down and fell (the enemy), leave them neither cow, nor horse, nor serving-man! Turn from here upon those that have fabricated thee, O spell, awaken them to childlessness!

avś_10.001.18.

यां॒ ते बर्हि॒षि यां॒ श्मशाने॒ क्षे॒त्रे कृत्यां॒ वलगं॒ वा निचख्नुः॒ ।
अग्नौ॒ वा त्वा गा॒र्हपत्ये ऽभिचेरुः॒ पा॒कं स॒न्तं धी॒रतरा अनाग॒सम् ॥१८॥

yā́ṃ te barhíṣi yā́ṃ śmaśāné kṣétre kr̥tyā́ṃ valagáṃ vā nicakhnúḥ |
agnáu vā tvā gā́rhapatye 'bhicerúḥ pā́kaṃ sántaṃ dhī́ratarā anāgásam ||18||

Какую ворожбу или тайное колдовство они зарыли
Для тебя в жертвенной соломе, на кладбище, в поле
Или же ворожили против тебя в огне домохозяина,
Против тебя, простого, безвинного, они — более искушенные...

The charm or secret power which they have buried for thee in
sacred grass, field, cemetery,
Or spell in household fire which men more cunning have
wrought against thee innocent and simple,—

The spell or the magic which they have buried against thee in the sacrificial straw (barhis), in the field, (or) in the burial-ground, or if with superior skill they have practised sorcery against thee, that art simple and innocent, in thy household fire, —

avś_10.001.19.

उपा॒हृतम् अ॒नुबुद्धं नि॒खातं वै॒रं त्सार्य् अ॒न्व् अविदाम क॒र्त्रम् ।
त॒द् एतु य॒त आ॒भृतं त॒त्रा॒श्व इव वि॒ वर्ततां ह॒न्तु कृत्याकृ॒तः प्रजा॒म् ॥१९॥

upā́hr̥tam ánubuddhaṃ níkhātaṃ váiraṃ tsāry ánv avidāma kártram |
tád etu yáta ā́bhr̥taṃ tátrā́śva iva ví vartatāṃ hántu kr̥tyākŕ̥taḥ prajā́m ||19||

Мы обнаружили враждебное, тайное колдовское средство,
Которые было использовано, отмечено, спрятано.
Пусть оно отправится туда, откуда (его) принесли!
Там пусть катается, как лошадь!
Пусть убьет потомство создателя ворожбы!

That tool of hatred, understood, made ready, stealthy and buried
deep, have we discovered,
Let that go back to whence it came, turn thither like a horse
and kill the children of the sorcerer.

The hostile, insidious instrument which they have brought hither has been discovered; that which has been dug in we have detected. It shall go whence it has been brought hither; there, like a horse, it shall disport itself, and slay the offspring of him that has fashion'ed the spell!

avś_10.001.20.

स्वायसा॒ अस॒यः सन्ति नो गृहे॒ विद्मा॒ ते कृत्ये यतिधा॒ प॒रूंषि ।
उ॒त् तिष्ठैव॒ प॒रेहीतो॒ ऽज्ञाते कि॒म् इहे॒छसि ॥२०॥ {२}

svāyasā́ asáyaḥ santi no gr̥hé vidmā́ te kr̥tye yatidhā́ párūṃṣi |
út tiṣṭhaivá párehītó 'jñāte kím ihéchasi ||20|| {2}

В нашем доме есть ножи из хорошего металла.
Мы знаем, ворожба, сколько у тебя суставов.
Поднимайся же! Убирайся подальше отсюда!
О неизвестная, чего ты ищешь здесь?

Within our house are swords of goodly iron. Krityā, we know
thy joints and all their places.
Arise this instant and begone! What, stranger! art thou seek-
ing here?

Swords of good brass are in our house: we know how many joints thou hast, O spell! Be sure to rise, go away from hence! O stranger, what seekest thou here?

avś_10.001.21.

ग्रीवा॒स् ते कृत्ये पा॒दौ चा॒पि कर्त्स्यामि नि॒र् द्रव ।
इन्द्राग्नी॒ अस्मा॒न् रक्षतां यौ॒ प्रजा॒नां प्रजा॒वती ॥२१॥

grīvā́s te kr̥tye pā́dau cā́pi kartsyāmi nír drava |
indrāgnī́ asmā́n rakṣatāṃ yáu prajā́nāṃ prajā́vatī ||21||

Я разрублю твои кости на затылке,
Ворожба, и ноги — убегай!
Пусть Индра-и-Агни защитят нас,
(Эти двое), что богаты потомством!

O Krityā, I will cut thy throat and hew thy feet off. Run, be-
gone!
Indra and Agni, Guardian Lords of living creatures, shield us
well!

I shall hew off, O spell, thy neck, and thy feet: run away! May Indra and Agni, to whom belong the children (of men), protect us!

avś_10.001.22.

सो॒मो रा॒जाधिपा॒ मृडिता॒ च भूत॒स्य नः प॒तयो मृडयन्तु ॥२२॥

sómo rā́jādhipā́ mr̥ḍitā́ ca bhūtásya naḥ pátayo mr̥ḍayantu ||22||

Сома-царь — (наш) верховный владыка и покровитель.
Пусть повелители существования покровительствуют нам!

May Soma, gracious friend, imperial Sovran, and the world's
Masters look on us with favour.

King Soma, who guards and pities us, and the lords of the beings shall take pity on us!

avś_10.001.23.

भवाशर्वा॒व् अस्यतां पापकृ॒ते कृत्याकृ॒ते ।
दुष्कृ॒ते विद्यु॒तं देवहेति॒म् ॥२३॥

bhavāśarvā́v asyatāṃ pāpakŕ̥te kr̥tyākŕ̥te |
duṣkŕ̥te vidyútaṃ devahetím ||23||

Пусть Бхава-и-Шарва швырнут в сотворившего зло, в сотворившего ворожбу,
В сотворившего вред молнию — дротик богов!

Bhava and Sarva cast the flash of lightning, the weapon of the
Gods, against the sinner who made the evil thing, who deals
in witchcraft!

May Bhava and Sarva cast the lightning, the divine missile, upon him that performs evil, fashions a spell, and does wrong!

avś_10.001.24.

य॒द्य् एय॒थ द्विप॒दी च॒तुष्पदी कृत्याकृ॒ता सं॒भृता विश्व॒रूपा ।
से॒तो॒ ऽष्टा॒पदी भूत्वा॒ पु॒नः प॒रेहि दुछुने ॥२४॥

yády eyátha dvipádī cátuṣpadī kr̥tyākŕ̥tā sáṃbhr̥tā viśvárūpā |
sétó 'ṣṭā́padī bhūtvā́ púnaḥ párehi duchune ||24||

Если ты пришла (сюда) двуногой, четвероногой,
Сложенной творцом колдовства, многообразной,
Став восьминогой, снова
Уходи отсюда подальше, о приносящая беду!

If thou hast come two-footed or four-footed, made by the
sorcerer, wrought in perfect beauty,
Become eight-footed and go hence. Speed back again, thou evil
one.

If thou art come two-footed, (or) four-footed, prepared by the fashioner of the spell, multiform, do thou, having become eight-footed, again go away from here, O misfortune!

avś_10.001.25.

अभ्य॑क्ता॒क्ता स्व॑रंकृता स॒र्वं भ॒रन्ती दुरितं॒ प॒रेहि ।
जानीहि कृत्ये कर्ता॒रं दुहिते॒व पित॒रं स्व॒म् ॥२५॥

abhyàktā́ktā svàraṃkr̥tā sárvaṃ bhárantī duritáṃ párehi |
jānīhi kr̥tye kartā́raṃ duhitéva pitáraṃ svám ||25||

Намазанная, обмазанная, прекрасно снаряженная,
Несущая всю беду — пошла прочь!
Узнай, ворожба, (своего) создателя,
Как дочь — своего отца!

Anointed, balmed, and well adorned, bearing all trouble with
thee, go.
Even as a daughter knows her sire, so know thy marker, Krityā,
thou.

Anointed, ornamented, and well equipped, go away, carrying every misfortune! Know, O spell, thy maker, as a daughter her own father!

avś_10.001.26.

प॒रेहि कृत्ये मा॒ तिष्ठो विद्ध॒स्येव पदं॒ नय ।
मृगः॒ स॒ मृगयु॒स् त्वं॒ न॒ त्वा नि॒कर्तुम् अर्हति ॥२६॥

párehi kr̥tye mā́ tiṣṭho viddhásyeva padáṃ naya |
mr̥gáḥ sá mr̥gayús tváṃ ná tvā níkartum arhati ||26||

Пошла прочь, ворожба, не стой!
Иди следом словно за раненым (зверем)!
Он дикий зверь, ты охотник.
Он не может тебя подавить.

Krityā, begone, stay not. Pursue as 'twere the wounded crea-
ture's track.
He is the chase, the hunter thou he may not slight or humble thee.

Go away, O spell, do not stand still, track (the enemy) as a wounded (animal)! He is the game, thou the hunter: he is not able to put thee down.

avś_10.001.27.

उत॒ हन्ति पूर्वासि॒नं प्रत्यादा॒या॒पर इ॒ष्वा ।
उत॒ पू॒र्वस्य निघ्नतो॒ नि॒ हन्त्य् अ॒परः प्र॒ति ॥२७॥

utá hanti pūrvāsínaṃ pratyādā́yā́para íṣvā |
utá pū́rvasya nighnató ní hanty áparaḥ práti ||27||

Также последующий, отвечая стрелой,
Убивает стрелявшего первым.
Также, когда первый поражает (стрелой),
Поражает в ответ последующий.

He waits, and aiming with his shaft smites him who first would
shoot at him,
And, when the foeman deals a blow before him, following strikes
him down.

Him that first hurls (the arrow), the other, laying on in defence, slays with the arrow, and while the first deals the blow, the other returns the blow.

avś_10.001.28.

एत॒द् धि॒ शृणु॒ मे व॒चो॒ ऽथेहि य॒त एय॒थ ।
य॒स् त्वा चका॒र तं॒ प्र॒ति ॥२८॥

etád dhí śr̥ṇú me vácó 'thehi yáta eyátha |
yás tvā cakā́ra táṃ práti ||28||

Слушай же эту речь мою,
Затем иди, откуда пришла,
К тому, кто тебя сделал, навстречу!

Hearken to this my word; then go thither away whence thou
hast come; to him who made thee go thou back.

Hear, verily, this speech of mine, and then return whence thou camest, against the one that fashioned thee!

अनागोहत्या॒ वै॒ भीमा॒ कृत्ये मा॒ नो गा॒म् अ॒श्वं पु॒रुषं वधीः ।
य॒त्रयत्रा॒सि नि॒हिता त॒तस् त्वो॒त् थापयामसि पर्णा॒ल् ल॒घीयसी भव ॥२९॥

anāgohatyā́ vái bhīmā́ kr̥tye mā́ no gā́m áśvaṃ púruṣaṃ vadhīḥ |
yátrayatrā́si níhitā tátas tvót thāpayāmasi parṇā́l lághīyasī bhava ||29||

Ведь страшно убийство невиновного, ворожба!
Не убивай нашу корову, коня, человека!
Где бы ты ни устроилась,
Мы заставляем тебя оттуда подняться.
Стань легче листочка!

The slaughter of an innocent, O Krityā, is an awful deed. Slay
not cow, horse, or man of ours.
In whatsoever place thou art concealed we rouse thee up there-
from: become thou lighter than a leaf.

Slaughter of an innocent is heinous, O spell: do not slay our cow, horse, or serving-man! Wherever thou hast been put down, thence thee do we remove. Be lighter than a leaf!

avś_10.001.30.

य॒दि स्थ॒ त॒मसा॒वृता जा॒लेनभि॒हिता इव ।
स॒र्वाः संलु॒प्येतः॒ कृत्याः॒ पु॒नः कर्त्रे॒ प्र॒ हिण्मसि ॥३०॥

yádi sthá támasā́vr̥tā jā́lenabhíhitā iva |
sárvāḥ saṃlúpyetáḥ kr̥tyā́ḥ púnaḥ kartré prá hiṇmasi ||30||

Если ты окутана мраком,
Как те, кто опутан сетью,
Вырвав отсюда все виды ворожбы,
Мы отправляем (их) назад к (их) создателю.

If ye be girt about with clouds of darkness, bound as with a
net.
We rend and tear all witcheries hence and to their maker send
them back.

If ye are enveloped in darkness, covered as if by a net — we tear all spells out from here, send them back again to him that fashioned them.

avś_10.001.31.

कृत्याकृ॒तो वलगि॒नो ऽभिनिष्कारि॒णः प्रजा॒म् ।
मृणीहि॒ कृत्ये मो॒च् छिषो ऽमू॒न् कृत्याकृ॒तो जहि ॥३१॥

kr̥tyākŕ̥to valagíno 'bhiniṣkāríṇaḥ prajā́m |
mr̥ṇīhí kr̥tye móc chiṣo 'mū́n kr̥tyākŕ̥to jahi ||31||

Уничтожь потомство у создателя ворожбы,
Занимающегося тайным колдовством, посягнувшего (на нас)!
О ворожба, не оставь (их в живых)!
Убей тех создателей ворожбы!

The brood of wizard, sorcerer, the purposer of evil deed.
Crush thou, O Krityā spare not, kill those practisers of magic
arts.

The offspring of them that fashion the spell, practise magic, or plot against us, crush thou, O spell, leave none of them! Slay those that fashion the spell!

avś_10.001.32.

य॒था सू॒र्यो मुच्य॒ते त॒मसस् प॒रि रा॒त्रिं ज॒हात्य् उष॒सश्च केतू॒न् ।
एवा॒हं॒ स॒र्वं दुर्भूतं॒ क॒र्त्रं कृत्याकृ॒ता कृतं॒ हस्ती॒व र॒जो दुरितं॒ जहामि ॥३२॥ {३}

yáthā sū́ryo mucyáte támasas pári rā́triṃ jáhāty uṣásaśca ketū́n |
evā́háṃ sárvaṃ durbhūtáṃ kártraṃ kr̥tyākŕ̥tā kr̥táṃ hastī́va rájo duritáṃ jahāmi ||32|| {3}

Как солнце освобождается из мрака
(И) отстраняет ночь и признаки зари,
Так я отстраняю все злонамеренное
Колдовство, созданное создателем колдовства,
Словно слон — мешающую пыль (?).

As Sūrya frees himself from depth of darkness, and casts away
the night and rays of morning,
So I repel each baleful charm which an enchanter hath pre-
pared;
And, as an elephant shakes off the dust, I cast the plague aside.

As the sun is released from darkness, abandons the night, and the streaks of the dawn, thus every misery, (every) device prepared by the fashioner of the spell, (every) misfortune, do I leave behind, as an elephant the dust.
