अरातीयो॒र् भ्रा॒तृव्यस्य दुर्हा॒र्दो द्विषतः॒ शि॒रः ।
अ॒पि वृश्चाम्य् ओ॒जसा ॥१॥
arātīyór bhrā́tr̥vyasya durhā́rdo dviṣatáḥ śíraḥ |
ápi vr̥ścāmy ójasā ||1||

Злосердечного (и) ненавидящего,
Я с силой отрубаю.
With power I cut away the head of my malignant rival, of mine
evil-hearted enemy.
The head of the hostile rival, of the enemy that bates me, do I cut off with might.

व॒र्म म॒ह्यम् अयं॒ मणिः॒ फा॒लाज् जातः॒ करिष्यति ।
पूर्णो॒ मन्थे॒न मा॒गमद् र॒सेन सह॒ व॒र्चसा ॥२॥
várma máhyam ayáṃ maṇíḥ phā́lāj jātáḥ kariṣyati |
pūrṇó manthéna mā́gamad rásena sahá várcasā ||2||
Этот амулет, рожденный из лемеха (плуга),
Создаст мне защиту.
Полный смешанного напитка, он пришел ко мне,
С соком, с блеском.
This Amulet of citron-wood shall make for me a trusty shield
Filled with the mingled beverage, with sap and vigour hath it
come.
This amulet, produced by the ploughshare, will prepare an armour for me: full of stirred drink it has come to me, together with sap and lustre.

य॒त् त्वा शिक्वः॒ परा॒वधीत् त॒क्षा ह॒स्तेन वा॒स्या ।
आ॒पस् त्वा त॒स्मज् जीवलाः॒ पुन॒न्तु शु॒चयः शु॒चिम् ॥३॥
yát tvā śikváḥ parā́vadhīt tákṣā hástena vā́syā |
ā́pas tvā tásmaj jīvalā́ḥ punántu śúcayaḥ śúcim ||3||
Если тебя умелый плотник
Повредил рукою с ножом,
Пусть живительные воды тебя от этого очистят,
(Они), блистательные, (чтобы ты стал) блистательным!
What though the strong-armed carpenter have cleft thee with
his hand and axe.
Pure animating waters shall cleanse thee and make thee bright
again.
If the skilful workman has injured thee with his hand or with his knife, the living bright waters shall purify thee from that, (so that thou shalt be) bright!
avś_10.006.04.
हि॒रण्यस्रग् अयं॒ मणिः॒ श्रद्धां॒ यज्ञं॒ म॒हो द॒धत् ।
गृहे॒ वसतु नो॒ ऽतिथिः ॥४॥
híraṇyasrag ayáṃ maṇíḥ śraddhā́ṃ yajñáṃ máho dádhat |
gr̥hé vasatu nó 'tithiḥ ||4||
Пусть этот амулет с золотым венком
Дарует веру, жертву, величие!
Пусть живет он как гость в нашем доме!
This Amulet, decked with chain of gold, shall give faith,
sacrifice, and might, and dwell as guest within our house.
This amulet has a golden wreath, bestows faith and sacrifice and might; in our house as a guest it shall dwell!

त॒स्मै घृतं॒ सु॒रं म॒ध्व् अ॒न्नमन्नम् क्षदामहे ।
स॒ नः पिते॒व पुत्रे॒भ्यः श्रे॒यःश्रेयश् चिकित्सतु भू॒योभूयः श्वः॒श्वो देवे॒भ्यो मणि॒र् ए॒त्य ॥५॥
tásmai ghr̥táṃ súraṃ mádhv ánnamannam kṣadāmahe |
sá naḥ pitéva putrébhyaḥ śréyaḥśreyaś cikitsatu bhū́yobhūyaḥ śváḥśvo devébhyo maṇír étya ||5||
Ему мы подаем жир, суру,
Мед, еду, одну за другой.
Как отец о сыновьях,
Пусть он заботится о нас лучше и лучше,
Больше и больше, день за днем,
(Этот) амулет, придя от богов!
To this we give apportioned food, clarified butter, wine, and
meath.
May it provide each boon for us as doth a father for his sons.
Again, again, from morn to morn, having approached the
deities.
Before it (the amulet as a guest) ghee, surā (liquor), honey, and every kind of food we place. The amulet having gone to the gods shall, as a father for his sons, plan for us growing good, more and more day after day!

tám agníḥ práty amuñcata só asmai duha ā́jyaṃ bhū́yobhūyaḥ śváḥśvas téna tváṃ dviṣató jahi ||6||

Грозное (дерево) кхадира — для могущества,
Его прикрепил Агни.
Он для него доится жертвенным маслом,
Больше и больше, день за днем.

The Charm Brihaspati hath bound, the fatness-dropping citron-
wood, the potent Khadira for strength,
This Agni hath put on: it yields clarified butter for this man.
Again, again, from morn to morn. With this subdue thine
enemies.
The amulet which Brihaspati tied, the ploughshare dripping with ghee, the strong khadira, unto strength, that Agni did fasten on; that yields him ghee more and more day after day: with it those that hate me do thou slay!

This Charm hath Soma put on him for might, for hearing, and
for sight.
This yields him energy indeed, again, again, etc.
The amulet which Brihaspati tied . . . that Soma did fasten on unto perfect hearing and seeing; that verily yields him lustre more and more, &c.

This Sūrya put on him, with this conquered the regions of the
sky.
This yieldeth him ability, again, etc.
The amulet which Brihaspat, tied . . . that Sūrya did fasten on, with that he conquered these directions of space; that yields him prosperity moreand more, &c.

This Charm did Chandra wear, with this conquered the forts of
Asuras, the golden forts of Dānavas.
This yields him glory and renown, again, etc.
The amulet which Brihaspati tied wearing that amulet Kandramas (the moon) conquered the golden cities of the Asuras and the Dānavas; that yields him fortune more and more, &c.

The Amulet Brihaspati bound on the swiftly-moving Wind.
This yieldeth him a vigorous steed, again, etc.
The amulet which Brihaspat' tied for swift Vāta (wind), that yields him strength more and more, &c.

ténemā́ṃ maṇínā kr̥ṣím aśvínāv abhí rakṣataḥ |

The amulet which Brihaspati tied for swift Vāta, with that amulet, O Asvins, do ye guard this plough-land; that yields the two physicians (the Asvins) might more and more, &c.

tám bíbhrat savitā́ maṇíṃ ténedám ajayat svàḥ |

tám rā́jā váruṇo maṇíṃ práty amuñcata śaṃbhúvam |

तं॒ देवा॒ बि॒भ्रतो मणिं॒ स॒र्वांल् लोका॒न् युधा॒जयन् ।
स॒ एभ्यो जि॒तिम् इ॒द् दुहे भू॒योभूयः श्वः॒श्वस् ते॒न त्वं॒ द्विषतो॒ जहि ॥१६॥
yám ábadhnād bŕ̥haspátir vā́tāya maṇím āśáve |
táṃ devā́ bíbhrato maṇíṃ sárvāṃl lokā́n yudhā́jayan |
sá ebhyo jítim íd duhe bhū́yobhūyaḥ śváḥśvas téna tváṃ dviṣató jahi ||16||

त॒म् इमं॒ देव॒ता मणिं॒ प्र॒त्य् अमुञ्चन्त शम्भु॒वम् ।
स॒ आभ्यो वि॒श्वम् इ॒द् दुहे भू॒योभूयः श्वः॒श्वस् ते॒न त्वं॒ द्विषतो॒ जहि ॥१७॥

tám imáṃ devátā maṇíṃ práty amuñcanta śambhúvam |
sá ābhyo víśvam íd duhe bhū́yobhūyaḥ śváḥśvas téna tváṃ dviṣató jahi ||17||

This yieldeth them the universe, again, again, from morn to
morn. With this subdue thine enemies.
The amulet which Brihaspati tied for swift Vāta, that comforting amulet the divinities did fasten on; that verily yields them- all more and more, &c.

ऋत॒वस् त॒म् अबध्नतार्तवा॒स् त॒म् अबध्नत ।
संवत्सर॒स् तं॒ बद्ध्वा॒ स॒र्वं भूतं॒ वि॒ रक्षति ॥१८॥
r̥távas tám abadhnatārtavā́s tám abadhnata |
saṃvatsarás táṃ baddhvā́ sárvaṃ bhūtáṃ ví rakṣati ||18||
Времена года его привязали,
Части года его привязали.
Привязав его, год
Защищает все существование.
The seasons formed that Amulet, the Groups of Seasons fashion-
ed it.
The Year having constructed it preserveth everything that is.
The seasons did fasten it on; the divisions (of the year) did fasten it on. Since the year did fasten it on, it guards every being.

अन्तर्देशा॒ अबध्नत प्रदि॒शस् त॒म् अबध्नत ।
प्रजा॒पतिसृष्टो मणि॒र् द्विषतो॒ मे॒ ऽधरां अकः ॥१९॥
antardeśā́ abadhnata pradíśas tám abadhnata |
prajā́patisr̥ṣṭo maṇír dviṣató mé 'dharām̐ akaḥ ||19||

The regions of the heaven, the points that lie between them
fashioned it.
Created by Prajāpati, may the Charm cast my foemen down.
The intermediate directions did fasten it on; the directions did fasten it on. The amulet created by Pragāpati has subjected those that hate me.

अ॒थर्वाणो अबध्नताथर्वणा॒ अबध्नत ।
तै॒र् मेदि॒नो अ॒ङ्गिरसो द॒स्यूनां बिभिदुः पु॒रस् ते॒न त्व॒म् द्विषतो॒ जहि ॥२०॥ {१९}
átharvāṇo abadhnatātharvaṇā́ abadhnata |
táir medíno áṅgiraso dásyūnāṃ bibhiduḥ púras téna tvám dviṣató jahi ||20|| {19}

Atharvan made the Amulet, Atharvan's children fashioned it.
With them the sage Angirases broke through the Dasyus'
fortresses. With this subdue thine enemies.
The Atharvans did tie it on, the descendants of the Atharvans did tie it on; with these allied, the Angiras cleft the castles of the Dasyus. With it those that hate me do thou slay!

तं॒ धाता॒ प्र॒त्य् अमुञ्चत स॒ भूतं॒ व्य् अ॑कल्पयत् ।
ते॒न त्वं॒ द्विषतो॒ जहि ॥२१॥

téna tváṃ dviṣató jahi ||21||

sá māyáṃ maṇír ā́gamad rásena sahá várcasā ||22||

The Amulet Brihaspati formed for the Gods, that slew the
fiends.
That Amulet here hath come to me combined with sap and

त॒म् इमं॒ देव॒ता मणिं॒ म॒ह्यं ददतु पु॒ष्टये ।
अभिभुं॒ क्षत्रव॒र्धनं सपत्नद॒म्भनं मणि॒म् ॥२९॥
tám imáṃ devátā maṇíṃ máhyaṃ dadatu púṣṭaye |
abhibhúṃ kṣatravárdhanaṃ sapatnadámbhanaṃ maṇím ||29||
Пусть божества дадут мне
Этот самый амулет для процветания,
Могущественный, увеличивающий власть,
Вредящий соперникам амулет!
That Amulet may the Deities bestow on me to win success,
The conquering, strength-increasing Charm, the damager of
enemies.
This amulet the gods shall give me unto prosperity, the mighty amulet that strengthens sovereignty and injures the rivals!

ब्र॒ह्मणा ते॒जसा सह॒ प्र॒ति मुञ्चामि मे शिव॒म् ।
असपत्नः॒ सपत्नहा॒ सप॒त्नान् मे॒ ऽधरां अकः ॥३०॥ {२०}
bráhmaṇā téjasā sahá práti muñcāmi me śivám |
asapatnáḥ sapatnahā́ sapátnān mé 'dharām̐ akaḥ ||30|| {20}
Вместе с брáхманом (и) с блеском
Я надеваю на себя благоприятный (амулет).
Лишенный соперников, убивающий соперников,
Он сделал соперников ниже меня.
I bind on me my happy fate with holy prayer and energy.
Foeless destroyer of the foe, it hath subdued mine enemies.
An (amulet) auspicious for me thou shalt fasten upon (me), together with brahma (spiritual exaltation) and brilliance! Free from rivals, slaying rivals, it has subjected my rivals.

उ॒त्तरं द्विषतो॒ मा॒म् अयं॒ मणिः॒ कृणोतु देवजाः॒ ।
य॒स्य लोका॒ इमे॒ त्र॒यः प॒यो दुग्ध॒म् उपा॒सते ।
स॒ माय॒म् अ॒धि रोहतु मणिः॒ श्रै॒ष्ठ्याय मूर्धतः॒ ॥३१॥
úttaraṃ dviṣató mā́m ayáṃ maṇíḥ kr̥ṇotu devajā́ḥ |
yásya lokā́ imé tráyaḥ páyo dugdhám upā́sate |
sá māyám ádhi rohatu maṇíḥ śráiṣṭhyāya mūrdhatáḥ ||31||
Пусть этот рожденный от богов амулет
Сделает меня выше (моих) ненавистников!
(Тот), чье выдоенное молоко почитают
Эти три мира,
Пусть взберется на меня этот амулет
Ради превосходства, на голову!
May this Chaim, offspring of the Gods, make me superior to my
foe.
So may this charm whose milk expressed these three worlds
longingly await,
Be fastened on me here, that it may crown me with surpassing
power.
This god-born amulet, the sap milked from which these three worlds revere, shall render me superior to him that hates me; it shall ascend upon my head unto excellence!

यं॒ देवाः॒ पित॒रो मनुष्या॑ उपजी॒वन्ति सर्वदा॒ ।
स॒ माय॒म् अ॒धि रोहतु मणिः॒ श्रै॒ष्ठ्याय मूर्धतः॒ ॥३२॥
yáṃ devā́ḥ pitáro manuṣyā̀ upajī́vanti sarvadā́ |
sá māyám ádhi rohatu maṇíḥ śráiṣṭhyāya mūrdhatáḥ ||32||

Всегда живут,
Пусть взберется на меня этот амулет
Ради превосходства, на голову!
The Charm to which men, Fathers, Gods look ever for their
maintenance,
May this be fastened on me here, to crown me with surpassing
power
The amulet upon which the gods, the Fathers, and men ever live, shall ascend upon my head unto excellence!

य॒था बी॒जम् उर्व॒रायां कृष्टे॒ फा॒लेन रो॒हति ।
एवा॒ म॒यि प्रजा॒ पश॒वो॒ ऽन्नमन्नं वि॒ रोहतु ॥३३॥
yáthā bī́jam urvárāyāṃ kr̥ṣṭé phā́lena róhati |
evā́ máyi prajā́ paśávó 'nnamannaṃ ví rohatu ||33||
Как зерно растет на ниве
В борозде от плуга,
Так у меня пусть вырастает
Потомство, скот, одна еда за другой!
As, when the plough hath tilled the soil, the seed springs up in.
fertile land,
Let cattle, progeny, and food of every kind spring up with me.
As the seed grows in the field, in the furrow drawn by the ploughshare, thus in me offspring, cattle, and every kind of food shall grow up!
avś_10.006.34.
य॒स्मै त्वा यज्ञवर्धन म॒णे प्रत्य॒मुचं शिव॒म् ।
तं॒ त्वं॒ शतदक्षिण म॒णे श्रैष्ठ्याय जिन्वतात् ॥३४॥
yásmai tvā yajñavardhana máṇe pratyámucaṃ śivám |
táṃ tváṃ śatadakṣiṇa máṇe śraiṣṭhyāya jinvatāt ||34||
О амулет, усиливающий жертву,
Кому я тебя, благосклонного, надел,
Того ты, амулет, дающий стократную награду за жертву,
Оживи ради превосходства!
Charm, forwarder of sacrifice, who hast a hundred priestly fees.
Speed to preeminence him to whom I have attached thy happy
fate.
Upon whom, O thou amulet that prosperest the sacrifice, I have fastened thee (that art) propitious, him, O amulet, that yieldest a hundredfold sacrificial reward, thou shalt inspire unto excellence!
avś_10.006.35.
एत॒म् इध्मं॒ समा॒हितं जुषणो॒ अ॒ग्ने प्र॒ति हर्य हो॒मैः ।
त॒स्मिन् विधेम सुमतिं॒ स्वस्ति॒ प्रजा॒म् च॒क्षुः पशू॒न्त् स॒मिद्धे जात॒वेदसि ब्र॒ह्मणा ॥३५॥ {२१}
etám idhmáṃ samā́hitaṃ juṣaṇó ágne práti harya hómaiḥ |
tásmin vidhema sumatíṃ svastí prajā́m cákṣuḥ paśū́nt sámiddhe jātávedasi bráhmaṇā ||35|| {21}
Радуясь этим дровам, сложенным вместе,
О Агни, пожелай (их) вместе с возлияниями!
Пусть найдем мы благожелательность,
Удачу, потомство, зрение, (домашний скот)
В этом Джатаведасе, зажженном с молитвой!
Love thou, O Agni, pleased with burnt oblations, this sacred
fuel that is ranged in order.
In him may we find grace and loving-kindness, happiness,
progeny, and sight and cattle, in Jātavedas kindled with
devotion.
This fire-wood that has been laid on together with the oblations do thou, Agni, gladly accept: may we in this kindled Gātavedas (fire), through (this) charm, find favour, well-being, offspring, sight, and cattle!
