The Residue of Sacrifice containeth name, and from, and world:
Indra and Agni and the whole universe are comprised therein.
In the ukkhishta are deposited name (quality) and form, in the ukkhishta the world is deposited. Within the ukkhishta Indra and Agni, and the all are deposited.

The Residue of Sacrifice holdeth sea, waters, Moon, and Wind.
In the ukkhishta heaven and earth, and all beings, are deposited; in the ukkhishta are deposited the waters, the ocean, the moon, and the wind.

स॒न्न् उ॒च्छिष्टे अ॒संश् चोभौ॒ मृत्यु॒र् वा॒जः प्रजा॒पतिः ।
लौक्या॒ उ॒च्छिष्ट आ॒यत्ता व्र॒श् च द्र॒श् चा॒पि श्री॒र् म॒यि ॥३॥
sánn úcchiṣṭe ásaṃś cobháu mr̥tyúr vā́jaḥ prajā́patiḥ |
laukyā́ úcchiṣṭa ā́yattā vráś ca dráś cā́pi śrī́r máyi ||3||

Real, non-real, both are there, Prajāpati, and Death, and
strength:
Thereon depend the worldly ones: in me are glory Dra and Vra.
In the ukkhishta are both being and non-being, death, strength (food), and Pragāpati. The (creatures) of the world are founded upon the ukkhishta; (also) that which is confined and that which is free, and the grace in me.

दृढो॒ दृंह स्थिरो॒ न्यो॒ ब्र॒ह्म विश्वसृ॒जो द॒श ।
ना॒भिम् इव सर्व॒तश् चक्र॒म् उ॒च्छिष्टे देव॒ताः श्रिताः॒ ॥४॥
dr̥ḍhó dr̥ṃha sthiró nyó bráhma viśvasŕ̥jo dáśa |
nā́bhim iva sarvátaś cakrám úcchiṣṭe devátāḥ śritā́ḥ ||4||
Крепкий, укрепи ты, прочный, нья (?),
Брáхмана, десять создателей всего.
Как колесо — вокруг втулки со всех сторон,
(Так) божества укреплены в остатке.
The firm, the fast, the strong, the hard, Brahma, the All-creating
Ten.
Gods, as a wheel about the nave, are fixed all round the
Residue.
He who fastens what is firm, the strong, the leader, the brahma, the ten creators of the all, the divinities, are fixed on all sides to the ukkhishta as the (spokes of the) wheel to the nave.

हिङ्कार॒ उ॒च्छिष्टे स्व॒रः सा॒म्नो मेडि॒श् च त॒न् म॒यि ॥५॥
ŕ̥k sā́ma yájur úcchiṣṭa udgītháḥ prástutaṃ stutám |
hiṅkārá úcchiṣṭe sváraḥ sā́mno meḍíś ca tán máyi ||5||

The hum is in the Residue, the tone, the murmur of the psalm.
Rik, Sāman, and Yagus, the singing of the sāmans, their introductions, and the stotras are in the ukkhishta. The sound 'him' is in the ukkhishta, and the modulations and the music of the sāman. That is in me.

ऐन्द्राग्नं॒ पावमानं॒ महा॒नाम्नीर् महाव्रत॒म् ।
उ॒च्छिष्टे यज्ञ॒स्या॒ङ्गान्य् अन्त॒र् ग॒र्भ इव मात॒रि ॥६॥
aindrāgnáṃ pāvamānáṃ mahā́nāmnīr mahāvratám |
úcchiṣṭe yajñásyā́ṅgāny antár gárbha iva mātári ||6||
(То), что связано с Индрой-и-Агни, с (Сомой) Паваманой,
Обладающие великим именем (стихи), великий обряд —

Within the Residue, like babes unborn, the parts of sacrifice,
Aindrāgne Pāvamāna lie. Mahānāmnī, Mahavrata.
The prayer to Indra and Agni (aindrāgnam), the call to the soma, as it is being purified (pāvamāmam), the mahānāmnī-verses, the singing of the mahāvrata, (these) divisions of the service are in the ukkhishta, as the embryo in the mother.

राजसू॒यं वाजपे॒यम् अग्निष्टोम॒ष् त॒द् अध्वरः॒ ।
अर्काश्वमेधा॒व् उ॒च्छिष्टे जीव॒बर्हिर् मदि॒न्तमः ॥७॥
rājasū́yaṃ vājapéyam agniṣṭomáṣ tád adhvaráḥ |
arkāśvamedhā́v úcchiṣṭe jīvábarhir madíntamaḥ ||7||

अग्न्याधे॒यम् अ॒थो दीक्षा॒ कामप्र॒श् छ॒न्दसा सह॒ ।
उ॒त्सन्ना यज्ञाः॒ सत्रा॒ण्य् उ॒च्छिष्टे॒ ऽधि समा॒हिताः ॥८॥
agnyādhéyam átho dīkṣā́ kāmapráś chándasā sahá |
útsannā yajñā́ḥ satrā́ṇy úcchiṣṭé 'dhi samā́hitāḥ ||8||

Dikshā and Agnyādheya rite that sates the wish, with magic-
hymn,
Suspended rites, long sessions, are contained within the Residue.
The preparation of the sacred fire (agnyādheyam), the consecration for the soma-sacrifice (dikshā), the sacrifice by which (special) wishes are fulfilled, together with the metres, the sacrifices that have passed out, and the extended sacrifices (satra), are lounded upon the ukkhishta.

अग्निहोत्रं॒ च श्रद्धा॒ च वषट्कारो॒ व्रतं॒ त॒पः ।
द॒क्षिणेष्टं॒ पूर्तं॒ चो॒च्छिष्टे॒ ऽधि समा॒हिताः ॥९॥
agnihotráṃ ca śraddhā́ ca vaṣaṭkāró vratáṃ tápaḥ |
dákṣiṇeṣṭáṃ pūrtáṃ cócchiṣṭé 'dhi samā́hitāḥ ||9||

Faith fire-oblation, fervent zeal, service, and sacrificial cry,

The agnihotra, faith, the call vashat, vows and asceticism, sacrificial rewards, what is sacrificed (to the gods) and given (to the priests) are contained in the ukkhishta.

एकरात्रो॒ द्विरात्रः॒ सद्यःक्रीः॒ प्रक्री॒र् उक्थ्यः॑ ।
ओ॒तं नि॒हितम् उ॒च्छिष्टे यज्ञ॒स्याणू॒नि विद्य॒या ॥१०॥ {१९}
ekarātró dvirātráḥ sadyaḥkrī́ḥ prakrī́r ukthyàḥ |

Sacrifice of one night, or two, Sadya1 kri, Ukthya, and Prakri,
Call, deep-toned summons are therein, fine parts, through lore,
of sacrifice,
The (soma-sacrifice) that lasts one night (ekarātra), and that which lasts two nights (dvirātra), the (condensed soma-sacrifice called) sadyahkrī, and (that which is called) prakrī, the (Songs called) ukthya, are woven and deposited in the ukkhishta; (also the parts) of the sacrifice subtle through (higher) knowledge.

चतूरात्रः॒ पञ्चरात्रः॒ षड्रात्र॒श् चोभ॒यः सह॒ ।
षोडशी॒ सप्तरात्र॒श् चो॒च्छिष्टाज् जज्ञिरे स॒र्वे ये॒ यज्ञा॒ अमृ॒ते हिताः॒ ॥११॥
catūrātráḥ pañcarātráḥ ṣaḍrātráś cobháyaḥ sahá |
ṣoḍaśī́ saptarātráś cócchiṣṭāj jajñire sárve yé yajñā́ amŕ̥te hitā́ḥ ||11||

Sacrifice of four nights, of five, of six nights, day and night
conjoined,
Shodai, seven-night sacrifice, all these sprang from the Residue,
these which the Immortal One contains.
The soma-sacrifice that lasts four nights (katūrātra), five nights (pañkarātra), six nights (shadrātra), and along (with them) those that last double the time; the sixteenfold stotra (shodasin), and the soma-sacrifice that lasts seven nights (saptarātra), all the sacrifices which were founded upon immortality (amrita), were begotten of the ukkhishta.

प्रतीहारो॒ निध॒नं विश्वजि॒च् चाभिजि॒च् च यः॒ ।
साह्नातिरात्रा॒व् उ॒च्छिष्टे द्वादशाहो॒ ऽपि त॒न् म॒यि ॥१२॥
pratīhāró nidhánaṃ viśvajíc cābhijíc ca yáḥ |
sāhnātirātrā́v úcchiṣṭe dvādaśāhó 'pi tán máyi ||12||
Часть мелодии, слог в конце мелодии,
Всепобеждающий и (тот), что победоносный (обряд),
Происходящий за один день и через ночь (заключены) в остатке,

Pratihāra and Nidhanam, the Visvajit, the Abhijit,
The two Sāhnātirātrās and Twelve-day rite are stored therein.
The pratihāra-passages (in the sāman-songs), and their final syllables, the (soma-sacrifices called) visvagit and abhgit, the soma-sacrifice that ends with the day (sāhna), and that which lasts into the next day (atirātra), are in the ukkhishta — the soma-sacrifice also that lasts twelve days. That is in me.
avś_11.007.13.
सूनृ॒ता सं॒नतिः क्षे॒मः स्वधो॒र्जा॒मृ॒तं स॒हः ।
उ॒च्छिष्टे स॒र्वे प्रत्य॒ञ्चः का॒माः का॒मेन तातृपुः ॥१३॥
sūnŕ̥tā sáṃnatiḥ kṣémaḥ svadhórjā́mŕ̥taṃ sáhaḥ |
úcchiṣṭe sárve pratyáñcaḥ kā́māḥ kā́mena tātr̥puḥ ||13||
Радость, благожелательность, спокойствие,

Pleasantness, reverence, peace, and power, strength, vigour,
immortality
All forward wishes are with love satisfied in the Residue.
Liberality, accomplishment, possession, the call svadhā, nurture, immortality (amrita), and might, all inner desires are satisfied according to wish in the ukkhishta.

न॒व भू॒मीः समुद्रा॒ उ॒च्छिष्टे॒ ऽधि श्रिता॒ दि॒वः ।
आ॒ सू॒र्यो भात्य् उ॒च्छिष्टे ऽहोरात्रे॒ अ॒पि त॒न् म॒यि ॥१४॥
náva bhū́mīḥ samudrā́ úcchiṣṭé 'dhi śritā́ dívaḥ |
ā́ sū́ryo bhāty úcchiṣṭe 'horātré ápi tán máyi ||14||
Девять земель, океаны,

Nine several oceans, earths, and skies are set within, the Residue,
Bright shines the Sun therein, in me, the Residue, are Day and
Night.
The nine earths, oceans, heavens, are founded upon the ukkhishta. The sun shines in the ukkhishta, and day and night also. That is in me.

उपह॒व्यं विषूव॒न्तं ये॒ च यज्ञा॒ गु॒हा हिताः॒ ।
बि॒भर्ति भर्ता॒ वि॒श्वस्यो॒च्छिष्टो जनितुः॒ पिता॒ ॥१५॥
upahávyaṃ viṣūvántaṃ yé ca yajñā́ gúhā hitā́ḥ |
bíbharti bhartā́ víśvasyócchiṣṭo janitúḥ pitā́ ||15||

The Residue the Father's sire, who bears this universe, supports
Vishūvān, Upahavya, and all worship offered secretly.
The (soma-sacrifice called) upahavya, the offering on the middle day of a sacrifice lasting a year (vishūvant), and the sacrifices that are secretly presented, Ukkhishta, the sustainer of the universe, the father of the generator (Pragāpati), supports.

पिता॒ जनितु॒र् उ॒च्छिष्टो॒ ऽसोः पौ॒त्रः पितामहः॒ ।
स॒ क्षियति वि॒श्वस्ये॒शानो वृ॒षा भू॒म्याम् अतिघ्न्यः॑ ॥१६॥
pitā́ janitúr úcchiṣṭó 'soḥ páutraḥ pitāmaháḥ |
sá kṣiyati víśvasyéśāno vŕ̥ṣā bhū́myām atighnyàḥ ||16||

The Father's sire, the Residue, grandson of Spirit, primal Sire,
Lord of the universe, the Bull, dwells on the earth victorious.
Ukkhishta, the father of the generator, the grandson of the spirit (asu), the primal ancestor (grandfather), the ruler of the universe, the lusty bull dwells upon the earth.

ऋतं॒ सत्यं॒ त॒पो राष्ट्रं॒ श्र॒मो ध॒र्मश् च क॒र्म च ।
भूतं॒ भविष्य॒द् उ॒च्छिष्टे वीर्यं॑ लक्ष्मी॒र् ब॒लं ब॒ले ॥१७॥

Right, truth, dominion, fervent zeal, toil, duty, action, future,

Valour; prosperity, and strength dwell in the Residue in

Order (rita), truth (satya), creative fervour (tapas), sovereignty, asceticism, law and works; past, future, strength, and prosperity, are in the ukkhishta-force in force.

स॒मृद्धिर् ओ॒ज आ॒कूतिः क्षत्रं॒ राष्ट्रं॒ ष॒ड् उर्व्यः॑ ।
संवत्सरो॒ ऽध्य् उ॒च्छिष्ट इ॒डा प्रैषा॒ ग्र॒हा हविः॒ ॥१८॥
sámr̥ddhir ója ā́kūtiḥ kṣatráṃ rāṣṭráṃ ṣáḍ urvyàḥ |
saṃvatsaró 'dhy úcchiṣṭa íḍā praiṣā́ gráhā havíḥ ||18||
Успех, могущество, намерение,
Власть, царствование, шесть широких (просторов),

Welfare, resolve and energy, the six expanses, kingship, sway,
Prayer, and direction, and the year, oblation, planets, are there-

Success, might, plans, dominion, sovereignty, the six broad (regions), the year, libation (idā), the orders to the priests (praisha), the draughts of soma (graha), oblations (are founded) upon the ukkhishta.

च॒तुर्होतार आप्रि॒यश् चातुर्मास्या॒नि नीवि॒दः ।
उ॒च्छिष्टे यज्ञा॒ हो॒त्राः पशुबन्धा॒स् त॒द् इ॒ष्टयः ॥१९॥
cáturhotāra āpríyaś cāturmāsyā́ni nīvídaḥ |
úcchiṣṭe yajñā́ hótrāḥ paśubandhā́s tád íṣṭayaḥ ||19||
(Жертвоприношения) с четырьмя хотарами, (гимны) апри,
Сезонные жертвоприношения, приглашения богов
В остатке (заключены), жертвы, призывы,
Приношение животных, затем простые жертвы.
And the four Hotars, Apri hymns, the Nivids, and Four-
monthly rites,
Oblations, sacrifices, and animal offerings, and their forms.
The (liturgies called) katurhotārah, the āpri-hymns, the triennial sacrifices, the (formulas called) nīvid, the sacrifices, the priestly functions, the cattle-sacrifice and the soma-oblations connected with it, are in the ukkhishta.

अर्धमासा॒श् च मा॒साश् चार्तवा॒ ऋतु॒भिः सह॒ ।
उ॒च्छिष्टे घोषि॒णीर् आ॒प स्तनयित्नुः॒ श्रु॒तिर् मही॒ ॥२०॥ {२०}
ardhamāsā́ś ca mā́sāś cārtavā́ r̥túbhiḥ sahá |
úcchiṣṭe ghoṣíṇīr ā́pa stanayitnúḥ śrútir mahī́ ||20|| {20}

Months, half-months, sections of the year, seasons are in the
Residue,
The waters resonant afar, the thunder, and the mighty noise.
The half-months and months, the divisions of the year together with the seasons, the resounding waters, thunder, the great Vedic canon (sruti) are in the ukkhishta.

श॒र्कराः सि॒कता अ॒श्मान ओ॒षधयो वीरु॒धस् तृ॒णा ।
अभ्रा॒णि विद्यु॒तो वर्ष॒म् उ॒च्छिष्टे सं॒श्रिता श्रिता॒ ॥२१॥
śárkarāḥ síkatā áśmāna óṣadhayo vīrúdhas tŕ̥ṇā |
abhrā́ṇi vidyúto varṣám úcchiṣṭe sáṃśritā śritā́ ||21||

Pebbles, sand, stones, and herbs, and plants, and grass are in
the Residue,

Pebbles, sand, stones, herbs, plants, grass, clouds, lightning, rain, are attached to, and are founded upon the ukkhishta.

रा॒द्धिः प्रा॒प्तिः स॒माप्तिर् व्या॑प्तिर् म॒ह एधतुः॒ ।
अ॒त्याप्तिर् उ॒च्छिष्टे भू॒तिश् चा॒हिता नि॒हिता हिता॒ ॥२२॥
rā́ddhiḥ prā́ptiḥ sámāptir vyā̀ptir máha edhatúḥ |
átyāptir úcchiṣṭe bhū́tiś cā́hitā níhitā hitā́ ||22||
Успех, достижение, получение,
Исполнение, великая удача,
Полное достижение, преуспеяние

Gain, acquisition, and success, fulness, complete prosperity.
Great gain and wealth, are laid, concealed and treasured, in the
Residue.
Success, attainment, accomplishment, control, greatness, prosperity, supreme attainment, and wellbeing rest upon, rest in, have been deposited in the ukkhishta.

य॒च् च प्राण॒ति प्राणे॒न य॒च् च प॒श्यति च॒क्षुषा ।
उ॒च्छिष्टाज् जज्ञिरे स॒र्वे दिवि॒ देवा॒ दिविश्रि॒तः ॥२३॥
yác ca prāṇáti prāṇéna yác ca páśyati cákṣuṣā |
úcchiṣṭāj jajñire sárve diví devā́ diviśrítaḥ ||23||
Что дышит с помощью дыхания
И что видит с помощью зрения —

All things that breathe the breath of life, all creatures that have
eyes to see,
All the celestial Gods whose home is heaven sprang from the
Residue.
Whatever breathes with breath, and sees with sight, all gods in the heavens, founded upon heaven, were born of the ukkhishta.
