उदे॒हि वाजिन् यो॒ अप्स्व् अ॑न्त॒र् इदं॒ राष्ट्रं॒ प्र॒ विश सूनृ॒तावत् ।
यो॒ रो॒हितो वि॒श्वम् इदं॒ जजा॒न स॒ त्वा राष्ट्रा॒य सु॒भृतं बिभर्तु ॥१॥
udéhi vājin yó apsv àntár idáṃ rāṣṭráṃ prá viśa sūnŕ̥tāvat |
yó róhito víśvam idáṃ jajā́na sá tvā rāṣṭrā́ya súbhr̥taṃ bibhartu ||1||
Поднимись, могучий, (тот), что внутри вод!
Войди в это царство, полное блаженства!
Рохита, который породил все это,
Пусть он поддержит тебя, хорошо поддержанного, для царства!
Rise, Mighty One, who liest in the waters, and enter this thy
fair and glorious kingdom.
Let Rohita who made this All uphold thee carefully nurtured
for supreme dominion.
Rise up, O steed, that art within the waters, enter this kingdom, rich in liberal gifts! Rohita (the red sun) who has begotten this all, shall keep thee well-supported for sovereignty!
avś_13.001.02.
उ॒द् वा॒ज आ॒ गन् यो॒ अप्स्व् अ॑न्त॒र् वि॒श आ॒ रोह त्व॒द्योनयो याः॒ ।
सो॒मं द॒धानो ऽप॒ ओ॒षधीर् गा॒श् च॒तुष्पदो द्विप॒द आ॒ वेशयेह॒ ॥२॥
úd vā́ja ā́ gan yó apsv àntár víśa ā́ roha tvádyonayo yā́ḥ |
sómaṃ dádhāno 'pá óṣadhīr gā́ś cátuṣpado dvipáda ā́ veśayehá ||2||
Он поднялся, (это) могущество, что внутри вод. Взойди на племена, которые произошли от тебя! Овладевая сомой, водами, целебными травами, коровами, Дай войти сюда четвероногим (и) двуногим!
The strength that was in waters hath ascended. Mount o'er the
tribes which thou hast generated.
Creating Soma, waters, plants and cattle, bring hitherward both
quadrupeds and bipeds.
The steed that is within the waters has risen up: ascend upon the clans that are sprung from thee! Furnishing soma, the waters, plants, and cows, cause thou four-footed and two-footed creatures to enter here!
avś_13.001.03.
यूय॒म् उग्रा॒ मरुतः पृश्निमातर इ॒न्द्रेण युजा॒ प्र॒ मृणीत श॒त्रून् ।
आ॒ वो रो॒हितः शृणवत् सुदानवस् त्रिषप्ता॒सो मरुतः स्वादुसंमुदः ॥३॥
yūyám ugrā́ marutaḥ pr̥śnimātara índreṇa yujā́ prá mr̥ṇīta śátrūn |
ā́ vo róhitaḥ śr̥ṇavat sudānavas triṣaptā́so marutaḥ svādusaṃmudaḥ ||3||
Вы, грозные Маруты, сыновья Пришни,
С Индрой как с союзником раздробите (наших) врагов! Пусть услышит вас Рохита, о щедро дающие Маруты (числом) трижды семь, о любители вкусного!
Ye Maruts, strong and mighty, sons of Prisni, with Indra for
ally crush down our foemen.
Let Rohita, ye bounteous givers, hear you, thrice-seven Maruts
who delight in sweetness!
Do ye, strong Maruts, children of Prisni (the cloud), allied with Indra, crush the enemies! Rohita shall hear you, that give abundant gifts, the thrice seven Maruts, who take delight in sweet (nourishment)!
avś_13.001.04.
रु॒हो रुरोह रो॒हित आ॒ रुरोह ग॒र्भो ज॒नीनां जनु॒षाम् उप॒स्थम् ।
ता॒भिः सं॒रब्धम् अ॒न्व् अविन्दन् ष॒ड् उर्वी॒र् गातुं॒ प्रप॒श्यन्न् इह॒ राष्ट्र॒म् आ॒हाः ॥४॥
rúho ruroha róhita ā́ ruroha gárbho jánīnāṃ janúṣām upástham |
tā́bhiḥ sáṃrabdham ánv avindan ṣáḍ urvī́r gātúṃ prapáśyann ihá rāṣṭrám ā́hāḥ ||4||
Рохита поднялся, он поднялся на подъемы,
Зародыш женщин, (он взошел) на лоно рождений.
Его, охваченного этими (женщинами), обнаружили
шесть широких (просторов). Видя путь наперед, он доставил сюда царство.
Up to the lap of births, to lofty places, hath Rohita, the germ
of Dames, ascended.
Conjoined with these he found the six realms: seeing his way
in front here he received the kingship.
Rohita has climbed the heights, he has ascended them, he, the embryo of women, (has ascended) the womb of births. Closely united with these women they found out the six broad (directions); spying out a road he has brought hither sovereignty.
avś_13.001.05.
आ॒ ते राष्ट्र॒म् इह॒ रो॒हितो ऽहार्षीद् व्य् आ॑स्थन् मृ॒धो अ॒भयं ते अभूत् ।
त॒स्मै ते द्यावापृथिवी॒ रेव॒तीभिः का॒मं दुहाताम् इह॒ श॒क्वरीभिः ॥५॥
ā́ te rāṣṭrám ihá róhito 'hārṣīd vy ā̀sthan mŕ̥dho ábhayaṃ te abhūt |
tásmai te dyāvāpr̥thivī́ revátībhiḥ kā́maṃ duhātām ihá śákvarībhiḥ ||5||
Рохита доставил сюда твое царство.
Он разметал хулителей. Наступило для тебя отсутствие страха. Для тебя такого пусть Небо и Земля с помощью (Стихов) ревати (и) шаквари исполнят здесь желание!
For thee hath Rohita obtained dominion, scattered thine ene-
mies, become thy safeguard.
So by the potent Sakvaris let Heaven and Earth be milked to-
yield thee all thy wishes.
Hither to thee Rohita has brought sovereignty; he has dispersed the enemies: freedom from danger has resulted for thee. To thee heaven and earth together with the revatī and sakvarī-stanzas shall yield gifts at will!
avś_13.001.06.
रो॒हितो द्या॒वापृथिवी॒ जजान त॒त्र त॒न्तुं परमेष्ठी॒ ततान ।
त॒त्र शिश्रिये ऽज॒ ए॒कपादो॒ ऽदृंहद् द्या॒वापृथिवी॒ ब॒लेन ॥६॥
róhito dyā́vāpr̥thivī́ jajāna tátra tántuṃ parameṣṭhī́ tatāna |
tátra śiśriye 'já ékapādó 'dr̥ṃhad dyā́vāpr̥thivī́ bálena ||6||
Рохита породил Небо-и-Землю.
Там Парамештхин протянул нить.
На нее опирался Аджа Экапада.
Он укрепил (своею) силой Небо-и-Землю.
Rohita gave the Earth and Heavens their being. There Para-
meshthin held the cord extended.
Thereon reposeth Aja Ekapāda. He with his might hath stab-
lished Earth and Heaven.
Rohita produced heaven and earth; there Parameshthin (the lord on high) extended the thread (of the sacrifice). There Aga Ekapāda (the one-footed goat, the sun) did fix himself; he made firm the heavens and earth with his strength.
avś_13.001.07.
रो॒हितो द्या॒वापृथिवी॒ अदृंहत् ते॒न स्व॑ स्तभितं॒ ते॒न ना॒कः ।
ते॒नान्त॒रिक्षं वि॒मिता र॒जांसि ते॒न देवा॒ अमृ॒तम् अ॒न्व् अविन्दन् ॥७॥
róhito dyā́vāpr̥thivī́ adr̥ṃhat téna svà stabhitáṃ téna nā́kaḥ |
ténāntárikṣaṃ vímitā rájāṃsi téna devā́ amŕ̥tam ánv avindan ||7||
Рохита укрепил Небо-и-Землю,
Им было установлено (светлое) небо, им - небосвод, Им воздух (и) пространства были измерены. Благодаря ему боги нашли бессмертие.
Rohita firmly stablished Earth and Heaven: by him was ether
fixt by him the welkin.
He measured out mid air and all the regions: by him the Gods
found life that lasts for ever.
Rohita made firm heaven and earth, by him the (heavenly) light was established, by him the firmament. By him the atmosphere and the spaces were measured out, through him the gods obtained immortality.
avś_13.001.08.
वि॒ रो॒हितो अमृशद् विश्व॒रूपं समाकुर्वाणः॒ प्ररु॒हो रु॒हश् च ।
दि॒वं रूढ्वा॒ महता॒ महिम्ना॒ सं॒ ते राष्ट्र॒म् अनक्तु प॒यसा घृते॒न ॥८॥
ví róhito amr̥śad viśvárūpaṃ samākurvāṇáḥ prarúho rúhaś ca |
dívaṃ rūḍhvā́ mahatā́ mahimnā́ sáṃ te rāṣṭrám anaktu páyasā ghr̥téna ||8||
Рохита изучал многообразную (вселенную),
Собирая для себя возвышения и подъемы!
Поднявшись на небо благодаря (своему) мощному могуществу, Пусть смажет он твое царство молоком и жиром!
Arranging shoots, springs, Rohita considered this Universe in
all its forms and phases.
May he, gone up to heaven with mighty glory, anoint thy sov-
ranty with milk and fatness.
Rohita did ponder the multiform (universe) while preparing (his) climbings and advances. Having ascended the heaven with great might, he shall anoint thy royalty with milk and ghee!
avś_13.001.09.
या॒स् ते रु॒हः प्ररु॒हो या॒स् त आरु॒हो या॒भिर् आपृणा॒सि दि॒वम् अन्त॒रिक्षम् ।
ता॒सां ब्र॒ह्मणा प॒यसा ववृधानो॒ विशि॒ राष्ट्रे॒ जागृहि रो॒हितस्य ॥९॥
yā́s te rúhaḥ prarúho yā́s ta ārúho yā́bhir āpr̥ṇā́si dívam antárikṣam |
tā́sāṃ bráhmaṇā páyasā vavr̥dhānó viśí rāṣṭré jāgr̥hi róhitasya ||9||
Какие у тебя подъемы, возвышения, какие у тебя повышения,
С помощью которых ты заполняешь небо
(и) воздушное пространство, Усиливаясь с помощью брахмана, их молока, Бодрствуй над племенем в царстве Рохиты!
Thy risings up, thy mountings and ascensions wherewith thou
fillest heaven and air's mid-region—
By prayer for these, by milk of these, increasing, in Rohita's
kingdom watch, among his people.
All thy climbings, advances, and all thy ascents with which thou, (Rohita, the sun), fillest the heavens and the atmosphere, having strengthened thyself with their brahma and payas (spiritual and physical essence) do thou keep awake (do thou watch over) among the people in the kingdom of the (earthly) Rohita (the king)!
avś_13.001.10.
य॒स् ते वि॒शस् त॒पसः संबभूवु॒र् वत्सं॒ गायत्री॒म् अ॒नु ता॒ इहा॒गुः ।
ता॒स् त्वा विशन्तु म॒नसा शिवे॒न सं॒माता वत्सो॒ अभ्य् ए॑तु रो॒हितः ॥१०॥ {१}
yás te víśas tápasaḥ saṃbabhūvúr vatsáṃ gāyatrī́m ánu tā́ ihā́guḥ |
tā́s tvā viśantu mánasā śivéna sáṃmātā vatsó abhy ètu róhitaḥ ||10|| {1}
Какие племена возникли из твоего жара,
Они последовали здесь за теленком, за гаятри.
Пусть они войдут в тебя с доброй мыслью!
Пусть выйдет навстречу теленок Рохита вместе с матерью!
The tribes thy heat produced have followed hither the Calf and
Gāyatri, the strain that lauds him.
With friendly heart let them approach to serve thee, and the
Calf Rohita come with his mother.
The peoples that have originated from thy tapas (heat, or creative fervour), have followed here the calf, the gāyatri. They shall enter thee with kindly spirit; the calf Rohita with its mother shall come on!
avś_13.001.11.
ऊर्ध्वो॒ रो॒हितो अ॒धि ना॒के अस्थाद् वि॒श्वा रूपा॒णि जन॒यन् यु॒वा कविः॒ ।
तिग्मे॒नाग्नि॒र् ज्यो॒तिषा वि॒ भाति तृती॒ये चक्रे र॒जसि प्रिया॒णि ॥११॥
ūrdhvó róhito ádhi nā́ke asthād víśvā rūpā́ṇi janáyan yúvā kavíḥ |
tigménāgnír jyótiṣā ví bhāti tr̥tī́ye cakre rájasi priyā́ṇi ||11||
Рохита стоял наверху на небосводе,
Порождая все формы, (этот) юный поэт.
Агни сияет резким светом.
Он создал приятные (вещи) в третьем пространстве.
Erected, Rohita hath reached the welkin, wise, young, creating
every form and figure.
Agni, refulgent with his heightened lustre, in the third realm
hath brought us joy and gladness.
High on the firmament Rohita has stood, a youth, a sage, begettinu all forms. As Agni he shines with piercing light, in the third space he did assume lovely (forms).
avś_13.001.12.
सह॒स्रशृङ्गो वृषभो॒ जात॒वेदा घृता॒हुतः सो॒मपृष्ठः सुवी॒रः ।
मा॒ मा हासीन् नाथितो॒ ने॒त् त्वा ज॒हानि गोपोषं॒ च मे वीरपोषं॒ च धेहि ॥१२॥
sahásraśr̥ṅgo vr̥ṣabhó jātávedā ghr̥tā́hutaḥ sómapr̥ṣṭhaḥ suvī́raḥ |
mā́ mā hāsīn nāthitó nét tvā jáhāni gopoṣáṃ ca me vīrapoṣáṃ ca dhehi ||12||
Тысячерогий бык Джатаведас,
Политый жиром, с сомой на спине, с прекрасными героями, Да не покинет он меня, когда я умоляю его! Да не покину тебя я! Даруй мне процветание коров и процветание мужей!
Thousand-horned Bull, may Jātavedas, worshipped with butter,
balmed with Soma, rich in heroes,
Besought, ne'er quit me; may I ne'er forsake thee. Give me
abundant men and herds of cattle.
A bull with a thousand horns, Gātavedas (fire), endowed with sacrifices of ghee, carrying soma upon his back, rich in heroes, he shall, when implored, not abandon me, nor may I abandon thee: abundance in cattle and abundance in heroes procure for me!
avś_13.001.13.
रो॒हितो यज्ञ॒स्य जनिता॒ मु॒खं च रो॒हिताय वाचा॒ श्रो॒त्रेण म॒नसा जुहोमि ।
रो॒हितं देवा॒ यन्ति सुमनस्य॒मानाः स॒ मा रो॒हैः सामित्यै॒ रोहयतु ॥१३॥
róhito yajñásya janitā́ múkhaṃ ca róhitāya vācā́ śrótreṇa mánasā juhomi |
róhitaṃ devā́ yanti sumanasyámānāḥ sá mā róhaiḥ sāmityái rohayatu ||13||
Рохита родитель жертвы и (ее) рот.
Речью, слухом, мыслью я совершаю возлияние Рохите.
Боги идут благожелательными к Рохите.
Пусть он даст мне подняться с помощью подъемов,
связанных с собранием!
Rohita is the sire and mouth of worship: to him with voice, ear,
heart I pay oblation.
To Rohita come Gods with joyful spirit. May he by risings raise
me till I join him.
avś_13.001.14.
रो॒हितो यज्ञं॒ व्य् अ॑दधाद् विश्व॒कर्मणे त॒स्मात् ते॒जांस्य् उ॒प मेमा॒न्य् आ॒गुः ।
वोचे॒यं ते ना॒भिं भु॒वनस्या॒धि मज्म॒नि ॥१४॥
róhito yajñáṃ vy àdadhād viśvákarmaṇe tásmāt téjāṃsy úpa memā́ny ā́guḥ |
vocéyaṃ te nā́bhiṃ bhúvanasyā́dhi majmáni ||14||
Рохита распределил жертву для Вишвакармана.
От этого ко мне пришли эти сверкания.
Я хочу провозгласить твою родину в пределах мироздания.
Rohita ordered sacrifice for Visvakarman: thence have I obta-
ined this strength and energy.
May I proclaim thee as my kin over the greatness of the world.
Rohita is the generator of the sacrifice, and its mouth; to Rohita I offer oblations with voice, ear, and mind. To Rohita the gods resort with glad mind: he shall cause me to rise through elevation derived from the assembly!
avś_13.001.15.
आ॒ त्वा रुरोह बृहत्य् उ॑त॒ पङ्क्ति॒र् आ॒ ककु॒ब् व॒र्चसा जातवेदः ।
आ॒ त्वा रुरोहोष्णिहाक्षरो॒ वषट्कार॒ आ॒ त्वा रुरोह रो॒हितो रे॒तसा सह॒ ॥१५॥
ā́ tvā ruroha br̥haty ùtá paṅktír ā́ kakúb várcasā jātavedaḥ |
ā́ tvā rurohoṣṇihākṣaró vaṣaṭkārá ā́ tvā ruroha róhito rétasā sahá ||15||
На тебя взошел (размер) брихати, а также панкти, Взо(шел размер) какубх вместе с блеском, о Джатаведас. На тебя взошел возглас "Вашат!" со слогами ушниха, На тебя взошел Рохита со (своим) семенем.
On thee have mounted Brihatī and Pankti. and Kakup with great
splendour, Jātavedas!
The cry of Vashat with the voice uplifted and Rohita with seed
on thee have mounted.
Upon thee have ascended the brihatī and the pankti (metres), upon thee the kakubh with splendour, O Gātavedas. Upon thee the vashat-call, whose syllables make an ushnihā, has ascended, upon thee Rohita with his seed has ascended.
avś_13.001.16.
अयं॒ वस्ते ग॒र्भं पृथिव्या॒ दि॒वं वस्ते ऽय॒म् अन्त॒रिक्षम् ।
अयं॒ ब्रध्न॒स्य विष्ट॒पि स्व॑र् लोका॒न् व्य् आ॑नशे ॥१६॥
ayáṃ vaste gárbhaṃ pr̥thivyā́ dívaṃ vaste 'yám antárikṣam |
ayáṃ bradhnásya viṣṭápi svàr lokā́n vy ā̀naśe ||16||
Этот одевается в зародыша земли.
Этот одевается в небо, в воздушное пространство, Этот на вершине красноватого (солнца) Достиг миров (светлого) неба.
He goes into the womb of earth, he robes himself in heaven and
air.
He on the Bright One's station hath reached heavenly light and
all the worlds.
This one clothes himself in the womb of the earth, this one clothes himself in heaven, and in the atmosphere. This one at the station of the brown (sun) did attain unto the worlds of light.
avś_13.001.17.
वा॒चस् पते पृथिवी॒ नः स्योना॒ स्योना॒ यो॒निस् त॒ल्पा नः सुशे॒वा ।
इहै॒व॒ प्राणः॒ सख्ये॒ नो अस्तु तं॒ त्वा परमेष्ठिन् प॒र्य् अग्नि॒र् आ॒युषा व॒र्चसा दधातु ॥१७॥
vā́cas pate pr̥thivī́ naḥ syonā́ syonā́ yónis tálpā naḥ suśévā |
iháivá prāṇáḥ sakhyé no astu táṃ tvā parameṣṭhin páry agnír ā́yuṣā várcasā dadhātu ||17||
0 господин речи, (пусть будет) земля мягкой для нас,
Мягкой (наша) обитель, очень приятным ложе!
Только здесь пусть будет дыхание, в нашем содружестве!
О самый высший, пусть Агни тебя окружит
долгой жизнью, блеском!
To us, Vāchaspati, may Earth be pleasant, pleasant our dwelling,
pleasant be our couches.
Even here may Prāna be our friend: may Agni, O Parameshthin
give thee life and splendour.
O Vākaspati (lord of speech), the earth shall be pleasant to us, pleasant our dwelling, agrecable our couches! Right here life's breath shall be to our friend; thee, O Parameshthin, Agni shall envelop in life and lustre!
avś_13.001.18.
वा॒चस् पत ऋत॒वः प॒ञ्च ये॒ नौ वैश्वकर्मणाः॒ प॒रि ये॒ संबभूवुः॒ ।
इहै॒व॒ प्राणः॒ सख्ये॒ नो अस्तु तं॒ त्वा परमेष्ठिन् प॒रि रो॒हित आ॒युषा व॒र्चसा दधातु ॥१८॥
vā́cas pata r̥távaḥ páñca yé nau vaiśvakarmaṇā́ḥ pári yé saṃbabhūvúḥ |
iháivá prāṇáḥ sakhyé no astu táṃ tvā parameṣṭhin pári róhita ā́yuṣā várcasā dadhātu ||18||
О господин речи, (те) пять времен года, что у нас,
Которые возникли как связанные с Вишвакарманом, -
Только здесь пусть будет дыхание, в нашем содружестве!
О самый высший, пусть Рохита тебя окружит
долгой жизнью, блеском!
And those, Vāchaspati, our own five seasons, sacred to Visva-
karman their creator.
Even here our friend be Prāna: Parameshthin, may Rohita
vouchsafe the life and splendour.
O Vākaspati, the five seasons that we have, which have come about as the creation of Visvakarman, rialit here (they and) life's breath shall be to our friend; thee, O Parameshthin, Rohita shall envelop in life and lustre!
avś_13.001.19.
वा॒चस् पते सौमनसं॒ म॒नश् च गोष्ठे॒ नो गा॒ जन॒य यो॒निषु प्रजाः॒ ।
इहै॒व॒ प्राणः॒ सख्ये॒ नो अस्तु तं॒ त्वा परमेष्ठिन् प॒र्य् अह॒म् आ॒युषा व॒र्चसा दधातु ॥१९॥
vā́cas pate saumanasáṃ mánaś ca goṣṭhé no gā́ janáya yóniṣu prajā́ḥ |
iháivá prāṇáḥ sakhyé no astu táṃ tvā parameṣṭhin páry ahám ā́yuṣā várcasā dadhātu ||19||
О господин речи, (создай) нам благожелательность и разум,
Создай нам коров в хлеву, потомков в (наших) лонах!
Только здесь пусть будет дыхание, в нашем содружестве!
О самый высший, тебя я окружаю
долгой жизнью, блеском!
Breed, O Vāchaspati, joy and understanding, kine i n our stall
and children in our consorts.
Even here may Prāna be our friend: may Agni, O Parameshthin,
give thee life and splendour.
O Vākaspati, good cheer and spirit, cattle in our stable, children in our wombs beget thou! Right here life's breath shall be to our friend; thee, O Parameshthin, I envelop in life and lustre.
avś_13.001.20.
प॒रि त्वा धात् सविता॒ देवो॒ अग्नि॒र् व॒र्चसा मित्रा॒व॒रुणाव् अभि॒ त्वा ।
स॒र्वा अ॒रातीर् अवक्रा॒मन्न् ए॒हीदं॒ राष्ट्र॒म् अकरः सुनृ॒तावत् ॥२०॥ {२}
pári tvā dhāt savitā́ devó agnír várcasā mitrā́váruṇāv abhí tvā |
sárvā árātīr avakrā́mann éhīdáṃ rāṣṭrám akaraḥ sunŕ̥tāvat ||20|| {2}
Тебя окружил блеском Савитар, бог
Агни, Митра-Варуна о(хватили) тебя.
Приходи, топча всех скупцов!
Ты сделал это царство полным блаженства.
With splendour let God Savitar, and Agni, with splendour
Mitra, Varuna invest thee.
Treading down all Malignities, come hither. Pleasant and'
glorious hast thou made this kingdom.
God Savitar and Agni shall envelop thee, Mitra and Varuna surround thee with lustre! Treading down all powers of grudge come thou hither: thou hast made this kingdom rich in liberal gifts.
avś_13.001.21.
यं॒ त्वा पृ॒षती र॒थे प्र॒ष्टिर् व॒हति रोहित ।
शुभा॒ यासि रिण॒न्न् अपः॒ ॥२१॥
yáṃ tvā pŕ̥ṣatī ráthe práṣṭir váhati rohita |
śubhā́ yāsi riṇánn apáḥ ||21||
Когда тебя, о Рохита, везет
Пятнистая, (запряженная) в колесницу как пристяжная, Ты движешься с великолепием, выпуская течь реки.
Rohita, car-borne by a speckled leader, thou, pouring water,.
goest on in triumph.
Thou, O Rohita, whom the brindled cow, harnessed at the side, carries, goest with brilliance, causing the waters to flow.
avś_13.001.22.
अ॒नुव्रता रो॒हिणी रो॒हितस्य सूरिः॒ सुव॒र्णा बृहती॒ सुव॒र्चाः ।
त॒या वा॒जान् विश्व॒रूपां जयेम त॒या वि॒श्वाः पृ॒तना अभि॒ ष्याम ॥२२॥

Golden, refulgent, lofty is the Lady, Rohinī, Rohita's devoted
Consort.
Through her may we win various spoil and booty, through her
be conquerors in every battle.
Devoted to Rohita is Rohinī his mistress, with beautiful colour (complexion), great, and lustrous: through her may we conquer booty of every description, through her win every battle!

इदं॒ स॒दो रो॒हिणी रो॒हितस्यासौ॒ प॒न्थाः पृ॒षती ये॒न या॒ति ।
तां॒ गन्धर्वाः॒ कश्य॒पा उ॒न् नयन्ति तां॒ रक्षन्ति कव॒यो॒ ऽप्रमादम् ॥२३॥
idáṃ sádo róhiṇī róhitasyāsáu pánthāḥ pŕ̥ṣatī yéna yā́ti |
tā́ṃ gandharvā́ḥ kaśyápā ún nayanti tā́ṃ rakṣanti kaváyó 'pramādam ||23||
Рохини - это место Рохиты,
(А) вот путь, по которому идет пятнистая. Ее ведут вверх Гандхарвы, Кашьяпы. Ее заботливо охраняют поэты.
Rohita's seat is Rohinī before us: that is the path the speckled
Mare pursueth.
Kasyapas and Gandharvas lead her upward, and heavenly sages
ever watch and guard her,
This seat, Rohinī, belongs to Rohita; yonder is the path on which the brindled (female) goes! Her the Gandharvas and the Kasyapas lead forth, her the sages guard with diligence.

सू॒र्यस्या॒श्वा ह॒रयः केतुम॒न्तः स॒दा वहन्त्य् अमृ॒ताः सुखं॒ र॒थम् ।
घृतपा॒वा रो॒हितो भ्रा॒जमानो दि॒वं देवः॒ पृ॒षतीम् आ॒ विवेश ॥२४॥
sū́ryasyā́śvā hárayaḥ ketumántaḥ sádā vahanty amŕ̥tāḥ sukháṃ rátham |
ghr̥tapā́vā róhito bhrā́jamāno dívaṃ deváḥ pŕ̥ṣatīm ā́ viveśa ||24||
Буланые кони Сурьи, яркие,
Бессмертные, всегда возят легкоходную колесницу. Пьющий жир Рохита, сверкающий бог, Проник в пятнистое небо.
Sūrya's bay steeds refulgent and immortal draw the light-rolling.
chariot on for ever.
Drinker of fatness, Rohita, resplendent, hath entered into
various-coloured heaven,
The radiant bay steeds of the sun, the immortal, ever draw the delightful chariot. Rohita, the drinker of ghee, the shining god, did enter the variegated heavens.
avś_13.001.25.
यो॒ रो॒हितो वृषभ॒स् तिग्म॒शृङ्गः प॒र्य् अग्निं॒ प॒रि सू॒र्यं बभू॒व ।
यो॒ विष्टभ्ना॒ति पृथिवीं॒ दि॒वं च त॒स्माद् देवा॒ अ॒धि सृ॒ष्टीः सृजन्ते ॥२५॥
yó róhito vr̥ṣabhás tigmáśr̥ṅgaḥ páry agníṃ pári sū́ryaṃ babhū́va |
yó viṣṭabhnā́ti pr̥thivī́ṃ dívaṃ ca tásmād devā́ ádhi sŕ̥ṣṭīḥ sr̥jante ||25||
Рохита, остророгий бык,
Который окружил Агни, о(кружил) Сурью, Который укрепляет Небо и Землю, - Из него боги создают (все) создания.
Rohita, Bull whose horns are sharply pointed, superior of Agni
and of Sūrya,
He who supports the sundered earth and heaven,—from him the
Gods effect their own creations.
Rohita, the sharp-horned bull, who surpasses Agni and surpasses Sūrya, who props up the earth and the sky, out of him the gods frame the creations.
avś_13.001.26.
रो॒हितो दि॒वम् आ॒रुहन् महतः॒ प॒र्य् अर्णवा॒त् ।
स॒र्वो रुरोह रो॒हितो रु॒हः ॥२६॥
róhito dívam ā́ruhan mahatáḥ páry arṇavā́t |
sárvo ruroha róhito rúhaḥ ||26||
Рохита поднялся на небо.
Из великого потока.
На все подъемы поднялся Рохита.
Rohita rose to heaven from mighty ocean, Rohita rose and
clomb all steeps and rises.
Rohita ascended the heaven from the great flood; Rohita has climbed all heights.
avś_13.001.27.
वि॒ मिमीष्व प॒यस्वतीं घृता॒चीं देवा॒नां धेनु॒र् अ॒नपस्पृग् एषा॒ ।
इ॒न्द्रः सो॒मं पिबतु क्षे॒मो अस्त्व् अग्निः॒ प्र॒ स्तौतु वि॒ मृ॒धो नुदस्व ॥२७॥
ví mimīṣva páyasvatīṃ ghr̥tā́cīṃ devā́nāṃ dhenúr ánapaspr̥g eṣā́ |
índraḥ sómaṃ pibatu kṣémo astv agníḥ prá stautu ví mŕ̥dho nudasva ||27||
Измеряй дающую молоко, сочащуюся жиром (корову).
Она безотказная дойная корова богов.
Пусть Индра пьет сому! Пусть будет спокойствие! Пусть Агни восхваляет: выброси прочь насмешников!
Prepare the Milky One who teems with fatness: she is the Gods'
never-reluctant milch-cow.
Indra drink Soma: ours be peace and safety. Let Agni lead the
laud, and chase our foemen.
Create (the cow) that is rich in milk, drips with ghee: she is the milch-cowof the gods that does not refuse! Indra shall drink the Soma, there shall be secure possession; Agni shall sing praises: the enemies do thou drive out!
avś_13.001.28.
स॒मिद्धो अग्निः॒ समिधानो॒ घृत॒वृद्धो घृता॒हुतः ।
अभीषा॒ट् विश्वाषा॒ड् अग्निः॒ सप॒त्नान् हन्तु ये॒ म॒म ॥२८॥
sámiddho agníḥ samidhānó ghr̥távr̥ddho ghr̥tā́hutaḥ |
abhīṣā́ṭ viśvāṣā́ḍ agníḥ sapátnān hantu yé máma ||28||
Зажегся Агни, когда его зажигают,
Окрепший от жара, политый жиром.
Агни покоряющий, всепокоряющий,
Пусть убьет соперников, которые у меня (есть)!
Both kindling and inflamed, adored with butter and enhanced
thereby.
May conquering Agni, conqueror of all, destroy mine enemies.
Agni kindled, spreads his flames, fortified by ghee, sprinkled with ghee. Victorious, all-conquering Agni shall slay them that are my rivals!
avś_13.001.29.
ह॒न्त्व् एनान् प्र॒ दहत्व् अ॒रिर् यो॒ नः पृतन्य॒ति ।
क्रव्या॒दाग्नि॒ना वयं॒ सप॒त्नान् प्र॒ दहामसि ॥२९॥
hántv enān prá dahatv árir yó naḥ pr̥tanyáti |
kravyā́dāgnínā vayáṃ sapátnān prá dahāmasi ||29||
Пусть он убьет их, пусть испепелит -
(Вот он) враг, который сражается с нами.
С помощью Агни-пожирателя мяса
Мы испепеляем соперников.
Let him smite down in death and burn the foeman who
attacketh me.
Our adversaries we consume through Agni the Carnivorous.
He shall slay them, shall burn the enemy that battles against us! With the flesh-devouring Agni do we burn our rivals.
avś_13.001.30.
अवाची॒नान् अ॒व जही॒न्द्र व॒ज्रेण बाहुमा॒न् ।
अ॒धा सप॒त्नान् मामका॒न् अग्ने॒स् ते॒जोभिर् आ॒दिषि ॥३०॥ {३}
avācī́nān áva jahī́ndra vájreṇa bāhumā́n |
ádhā sapátnān māmakā́n agnés téjobhir ā́diṣi ||30|| {3}
Пришиби их, о Индра, повергнутых вниз,
(Своею) ваджрой, (ты), обладатель (мощных) рук!
Затем соперников моих
Захватил я себе с помощью вспышек Агни.
Beat them down, Indra, with thy bolt, beat them down, mighty
with thine arm.
I through the energy and force of Agni have secured my foes.
Smite them down, O Indra, with the thunderbolt, with thy (strong) arm! Then have I overpowered my rivals with Agni's brilliant strengths.
avś_13.001.31.
अ॒ग्ने सप॒त्नान् अ॒धरान् पादयास्म॒द् व्यथ॒या सजात॒म् उत्पि॒पानं बृहस्पते ।
इ॒न्द्राग्नी मि॒त्रावरुणाव् अ॒धरे पद्यन्ताम् अ॒प्रतिमन्यूयमानाः ॥३१॥
ágne sapátnān ádharān pādayāsmád vyatháyā sajātám utpípānaṃ br̥haspate |
índrāgnī mítrāvaruṇāv ádhare padyantām ápratimanyūyamānāḥ ||31||
О Агни, сделай чтоб соперники повалились ниже нас!
Встряхни враждебного родича, о Брихаспати!
О Индра-Агни, о Митра-Варуна,
Пусть повалятся ниже (нас) (эти) бессильные в своей ярости!
Cast down our foes beneath our feet, O Agni. Brihaspati,
oppress our rebel kinsman.
Low let them fall, O Indra-Agni. Mitra-Varuna, powerless to
show their anger.
O Agni, subject our rivals to us; confuse, O Brihaspati, the kinsman that is puffed up! O Indra and Agni, O Mitra and Varuna, subjected they shall be, unable to vent their wrath against us!
avś_13.001.32.
उद्यं॒स् त्वं॒ देव सूर्य सप॒त्नान् अ॒व मे जहि ।
अ॒वैनान् अ॒श्मना जहि ते॒ यन्त्व् अधमं॒ त॒मः ॥३२॥
udyáṃs tváṃ deva sūrya sapátnān áva me jahi |
ávainān áśmanā jahi té yantv adhamáṃ támaḥ ||32||
О бог Сурья, когда ты восходишь,
Пришиби моих соперников!
Пришиби их камнем -
Пусть уйдут они в нижний мрак!
Ascending up on high, O God. O Sūrya, drive my foes away.
Yea, beat them backward with the stone: to deepest darkness
let them go.
Do thou, god Sūrya (the sun), when thou risest, beat down my rivals, beat them down with a stone: they shall go to the nethermost darkness!
avś_13.001.33.
वत्सो॒ विरा॒जो वृषभो॒ मतीना॒म् आ॒ रुरोह शुक्र॒पृष्ठो ऽन्त॒रिक्षम् ।
घृते॒नार्क॒म् अभ्य् अ॑र्चन्ति वत्सं॒ ब्र॒ह्म स॒न्तं ब्र॒ह्मणा वर्धयन्ति ॥३३॥
vatsó virā́jo vr̥ṣabhó matīnā́m ā́ ruroha śukrápr̥ṣṭho 'ntárikṣam |
ghr̥ténārkám abhy àrcanti vatsáṃ bráhma sántaṃ bráhmaṇā vardhayanti ||33||

Со сверкающей спиной, поднялся в воздушное пространство. С жиром (в руках) поют они песню теленку. Его, кто есть брахман, они усиливают брахманом.
Calf of Virāj, the Bull of prayers and worship, whitebacked, he
hath gone up to air's mid-region.
Singing, they hymn the Calf, with gifts of butter: him who is
Brahma they exalt with Brahma.
The calf of Virāg, the bull of prayers, carrying the bright (soma) upon his back, has ascended the atmosphere. A song accompanied by ghee they sing to the calf; himself brahma (spiritual exaltation) they swell him with their brahma (prayer).
avś_13.001.34.
दि॒वं च रो॒ह पृथिवीं॒ च रोह राष्ट्रं॒ च रो॒ह द्र॒विणं च रोह ।
प्रजां॒ च रो॒हामृ॒तं च रोह रो॒हितेन तन्वं॑ सं॒ स्पृषस्व ॥३४॥
dívaṃ ca róha pr̥thivī́ṃ ca roha rāṣṭráṃ ca róha dráviṇaṃ ca roha |
prajā́ṃ ca róhāmŕ̥taṃ ca roha róhitena tanvàṃ sáṃ spr̥ṣasva ||34||
На небо поднимись и на землю поднимись,
На царство поднимись и на имущество поднимись! На потомство поднимись и на бессмертие поднимись! Соприкоснись (своим) телом с Рохитой!
Rise up to earth, rise up to heaven above it; rise up to opulence,
rise up to kingship.
Rise up to offspring, rise to life immortal; rise, and with Rohita
unite thy body.
Ascend the heavens, ascend the earth sovereignty ascend thou, and possessions ascend thou! Offspring ascend thou, and immortality ascend thou, unite thy body with Rohita!
avś_13.001.35.
ये॒ देवा॒ राष्ट्रभृ॒तो ऽभि॒तो य॒न्ति सू॒र्यम् ।
तै॒ष् टे रो॒हितः सम्विदानो॒ राष्ट्रं॒ दधातु सुमनस्य॒मानः ॥३५॥
yé devā́ rāṣṭrabhŕ̥to 'bhíto yánti sū́ryam |
táiṣ ṭe róhitaḥ samvidānó rāṣṭráṃ dadhātu sumanasyámānaḥ ||35||
Какие боги, поддерживающие царство,
Идут окружать солнце -
В согласии с ними Рохита Благожелательный пусть дарует тебе царство!
With all the Gods who circle round the Sun, upholding royal
sway,
With all of these may Rohita accordant, give sovranty to thee
with friendly spirit.
The gods that hold sovereignty, who go about the sun, with these allied, Rohita, kindly disposed, shall bestow sovereignty upon thee!
avś_13.001.36.
उ॒त् त्वा यज्ञा॒ ब्र॒ह्मपूता वहन्त्य् अध्वग॒तो ह॒रयस् त्वा वहन्ति ।
तिरः॒ समुद्र॒म् अ॒ति रोचसे ऽर्णव॒म् ॥३६॥
út tvā yajñā́ bráhmapūtā vahanty adhvagáto hárayas tvā vahanti |
tiráḥ samudrám áti rocase 'rṇavám ||36||
Вверх везут тебя жертвы, очищенные брахманом. Странствующие по пути буланые кони возят тебя. Ты сверкаешь через море, через поток.
Cleansed by prayer, sacrifices bear thee upward: bay coursers,
ever travelling, convey thee. Thy light shines over sea and
billowy ocean.
The sacrifices purified by prayer lead thee forth; the bay steeds that travel upon the road carry thee: thou shinest across the swelling ocean.
avś_13.001.37.
रो॒हिते द्या॒वापृथिवी॒ अ॒धि श्रिते॒ वसुजि॒ति गोजि॒ति संधनाजि॒ति ।
सह॒स्रं य॒स्य ज॒निमानि सप्त॒ च वोचे॒यं ते ना॒भिं भु॒वनस्या॒धि मज्म॒नि ॥३७॥
róhite dyā́vāpr̥thivī́ ádhi śrité vasujíti gojíti saṃdhanājíti |
sahásraṃ yásya jánimāni saptá ca vocéyaṃ te nā́bhiṃ bhúvanasyā́dhi majmáni ||37||
На Рохите покоятся Небо-и-Земля,
На захватывающем добро, захватывающем коров,
захватывающем добычу. У кого тысяча и семь рождений, Я хочу провозгласить твою родину в пределах мироздания.
Rohita, conqueror of cows and riches and gathered spoil, is
heaven's and earth's upholder.
Over earth's greatness would I tell my kinship with thee who
hast a thousand births and seven.
In Rohita who conquers wealth, conquers cattle, and conquers booty, heaven and earth are fixed. Of thee that hast a thousand and seven births, let me announce the origin over the extent of the world!
avś_13.001.38.
यशा॒ यासि प्रदि॒शो दि॒शश् च यशाः॒ पशूना॒म् उत॒ चर्षणीना॒म् ।
यशाः॒ पृथिव्या॒ अ॒दित्या उप॒स्थे ऽहं॒ भूयासं सविते॒व चा॒रुः ॥३८॥
yaśā́ yāsi pradíśo díśaś ca yaśā́ḥ paśūnā́m utá carṣaṇīnā́m |
yaśā́ḥ pr̥thivyā́ ádityā upásthe 'háṃ bhūyāsaṃ savitéva cā́ruḥ ||38||
Прекрасный, движешься ты по (разным) местам
и сторонам света, Прекрасный (в глазах) животных и людей,
Прекрасный в недрах земли, Адити. Пусть стану я приятным, как Савитар.
A glorious sight to beasts and men, thou goest glorious to the
regions and mid-regions.
On earth's, on Aditi's bosom, bright with glory. Fain would I
equal Savitar in beauty.
Glorious thou goest to the intermediate directions and the directions (of space), glorious (in the sight) of animals and the tribes of men, glorious in the lap of the earth, of Aditi: may I like Savitar be lovely!
avś_13.001.39.
अमु॒त्र स॒न्न् इह॒ वेत्थेतः॒ सं॒स् ता॒नि पश्यसि ।
इतः॒ पश्यन्ति रोचनं॒ दिवि॒ सू॒र्यं विपश्चि॒तम् ॥३९॥
amútra sánn ihá vetthetáḥ sáṃs tā́ni paśyasi |
itáḥ paśyanti rocanáṃ diví sū́ryaṃ vipaścítam ||39||
Находясь там, ты знаешь (все) здесь. Находясь с этой стороны, ты видишь те (вещи). Отсюда они видят светлое пространство, Вдохновенное солнце на небе.
Thou, yonder, knowest all things here, when here thou knowest
what is there.
From here men see the sphere of light, Sūrya profoundly wise in
heaven.
Being yonder thou knowest (what takes place) here; being here thou beholdest these things. Here (men) behold the inspired sun that shines upon the sky.
avś_13.001.40.
देवो॒ देवा॒न् मर्चयस्य् अन्त॒श् चरस्य् अर्णवे॒ ।
समान॒म् अग्नि॒म् इन्धते तं॒ विदुः कव॒यः प॒रे ॥४०॥ {४}
devó devā́n marcayasy antáś carasy arṇavé |
samānám agním indhate táṃ viduḥ kaváyaḥ páre ||40|| {4}
Бог, ты приносишь вред богам, (Когда) ты находишься внутри потока. Они зажигают общий огонь,
Его знают лучшие поэты.
A God, thou injurest the Gods: thou movest in the ocean's
depth.
Men kindle common Agni: him only the higher sages know.
A god thou praisest the gods, thou movest within the flood. They kindle (him), a universal fire; him the highest sages know.
avś_13.001.41.
अवः॒ प॒रेण पर॒ एना॒वरेण पदा॒ वत्सं॒ बि॒ब्रती गौ॒र् उ॒द् अस्थात् ।
सा॒ कद्री॒ची कं॒ स्विद् अ॒र्धं प॒रागात् क्व॑ स्वित् सूते नहि॒ यूथे॒ अस्मि॒न् ॥४१॥
aváḥ páreṇa pará enā́vareṇa padā́ vatsáṃ bíbratī gáur úd asthāt |
sā́ kadrī́cī káṃ svid árdhaṃ párāgāt kvà svit sūte nahí yūthé asmín ||41||
......
Beneath the upper realm, above this lower, bearing her Calf at
foot, the Cow hath risen
Whitherward, to what place hath she departed? Where doth she
calve? Not in this herd of cattle.
Below the superior (region), above the inferior (region) here, the cow has arisen supporting (her) calf by the foot. Whither is she turned; to which half (of the universe), forsooth, has she aone away; where, forsooth, does she beget? Verily not in this herd!
avś_13.001.42.
ए॒कपदी द्विप॒दी सा॒ च॒तुष्पद्य् अष्टा॒पदी न॒वपदी बभूवु॒षी ।
सह॒स्राक्षरा भु॒वनस्य पङ्क्ति॒स् त॒स्याः समुद्रा॒ अ॒धि वि॒ क्षरन्ति ॥४२॥
ékapadī dvipádī sā́ cátuṣpady aṣṭā́padī návapadī babhūvúṣī |
sahásrākṣarā bhúvanasya paṅktís tásyāḥ samudrā́ ádhi ví kṣaranti ||42||
Одноногая, двуногая она, четырехногая.
Став восьминогой, девятиногой,
(Она) - пятичастный поэтический размер мироздания
из тысячи слогов. Из нее моря вытекают.
She hath become one-footed or two-footed, four-footed, or
eight-footed or nine-footed,
This universe's thousand-syllabled Pankti Oceans flow forth
from her in all directions.
One-footed, two-footed, four-footed is she; eight-footed, nine-footed became she, the thousand-syllabled (consisting of thousand elements) pankti (quinary stanza) of the universe: the oceans from her flow forth upon (the world).
avś_13.001.43.
आरो॒हन् द्या॒म् अमृ॒तः प्रा॒व मे व॒चः ।
उ॒त् त्वा यज्ञा॒ ब्र॒ह्मपूता वहन्त्य् अध्वग॒तो ह॒रयस् त्वा वहन्ति ॥४३॥
āróhan dyā́m amŕ̥taḥ prā́va me vácaḥ |
út tvā yajñā́ bráhmapūtā vahanty adhvagáto hárayas tvā vahanti ||43||
Поднимаясь на небо, бессмертный, помоги моей речи. Вверх везут тебя жертвы, очищенные брахманом. Странствующие по пути буланые кони возят тебя.
Rising to heaven, immortal, hear my calling. Cleansed by
prayer, sacrifices bear thee upward. Bay coursers, ever on the
road, convey thee.
Ascending the heaven, immortal, receive kindly my song! The sacrifices purified by prayer lead thee forth; the bay steeds that travel upon the road carry thee.
avś_13.001.44.
वे॒द त॒त् ते अमर्त्य य॒त् त आक्र॒मणं दिवि॒ ।
य॒त् ते सध॒स्थं परमे॒ व्यो॑मन् ॥४४॥
véda tát te amartya yát ta ākrámaṇaṃ diví |
yát te sadhásthaṃ paramé vyòman ||44||
Я знаю это о тебе, о бессмертный, - (То), что твое восхождение на небе, Что твоя обитель
На высшем небосводе.
This, O Immortal One, I know of thee, thy progress to the sky
thy dwelling-place in loftiest heaven.
That do I know of thee, O immortal, where thy march is upon the sky, where thy habitation is in the highest heaven.
avś_13.001.45.
सू॒र्यो द्यां॒ सू॒र्यः पृठिवीं॒ सू॒र्य आ॒पो॒ऽति पश्यति ।
सू॒र्यो भूत॒स्यै॒कं च॒क्षुर् आ॒ रुरोह दि॒वं मही॒म् ॥४५॥
sū́ryo dyā́ṃ sū́ryaḥ pr̥ṭhivī́ṃ sū́rya ā́pó'ti paśyati |
sū́ryo bhūtásyáikaṃ cákṣur ā́ ruroha dívaṃ mahī́m ||45||
Солнце озирает небо,
Солнце - землю, солнце - воды. Солнце, единственный глаз бытия, Поднялось на великое небо.
Beyond the sky, beyond the Earth looks Sūrya, and beyond the
floods.
The single eye of all that is; to mighty heaven hath he arisen.
Sūrya (the sun) surveys the sky, Sūrya the earth, Sūrya the waters. Sūrya is the single eye of being: he has ascended the great heavens.
avś_13.001.46.
उर्वी॒र् आसन् परिध॒यो वे॒दिर् भू॒मिर् अकल्पत ।
त॒त्रैता॒व् अग्नी॒ आ॒धत्त हिमं॒ घ्रंसं॒ च रो॒हितः ॥४६॥
urvī́r āsan paridháyo védir bhū́mir akalpata |
tátraitā́v agnī́ ā́dhatta himáṃ ghraṃsáṃ ca róhitaḥ ||46||
Широкие (стороны света?) были оградами,
Земля приобрела вид алтаря.
Там Рохита устроил себе
Эти два огня: холодный и горячий.
The earth was made his altar, and the wide expanses were the
fence.
There Rohita established both these Agnis, fervent heat and
cold.
The broad (directions) where the fagots that fence in (the fire), the earth turned itself into a fire-altar. There Rohita laid on for himself these two fires, cold and heat.
avś_13.001.47.
हिमं॒ घ्रंसं॒ चाधा॒य यू॒पान् कृत्वा॒ प॒र्वतान् ।
वर्षा॒ज्याव् अग्नी॒ ईजाते रो॒हितस्य स्वर्वि॒दः ॥४७॥
himáṃ ghraṃsáṃ cādhā́ya yū́pān kr̥tvā́ párvatān |
varṣā́jyāv agnī́ ījāte róhitasya svarvídaḥ ||47||
После того как он устроил себе холод и жар, Превратил горы в жертвенные столбы, Использующие дождь как жертвенное масло два огня Рохиты, нашедшего (небесный) свет, пригнали жертву.
He stablished heat and cold, he made the mountains sacrificial
posts.
Then both the Agnis, Rohita's who found celestial light, with
rain for molten butter, sacrificed.
Laying on cold and heat, using the mountains as sacrificial posts, the two fires of Rohita who knows the (heavenly) light, into which (the fires) rain (flowed) as ghee, carried out the sacrifice.
avś_13.001.48.
स्वर्वि॒दो रो॒हितस्य ब्र॒ह्मणाग्निः॒ स॒म् इध्यते ।
त॒स्माद् घ्रंस॒स् त॒स्माद् धिम॒स् त॒स्माद् यज्ञो॒ ऽजायत ॥४८॥
svarvído róhitasya bráhmaṇāgníḥ sám idhyate |
tásmād ghraṃsás tásmād dhimás tásmād yajñó 'jāyata ||48||
Огонь Рохиты, нашедшего (небесный) свет, Зажигается с помощью брахмана.
От него жар, от него холод. От него жертва родилась.
Rohita's Agni-his who found heaven's light-is kindled with the
prayer.
From him the heat, from him the cold, from him the sacrifice
was born.
The fire of Rohita who knows the (heavenly) light is kindled by prayer. From it heat, from it cold, from it the sacrifice was produced.
avś_13.001.49.
ब्र॒ह्मणाग्नी॒ वावृधानौ॒ ब्र॒ह्मवृद्धौ ब्र॒ह्माहुतौ ।
ब्र॒ह्मेद्धाव् अग्नी॒ ईजाते रो॒हितस्य स्वर्वि॒दः ॥४९॥
bráhmaṇāgnī́ vāvr̥dhānáu bráhmavr̥ddhau bráhmāhutau |
bráhmeddhāv agnī́ ījāte róhitasya svarvídaḥ ||49||
Два огня, усиливаемые брахманом,
Усиленные брахманом, получившие возлияние брахманом, Зажженные брахманом два огня Рохиты, нашедшего (небесный) свет,
совершили жертвоприношение.
Both Agins-Rohita's who found the light of heaven—made
strong by prayer,
Waxing by prayer, adored with prayer, by prayer enkindled,
sacrificed.
The two fires swelling through prayer, increased through prayer, sacrificed into with prayer; the two fires of Rohita who knows the (heavenly) light, kindled through prayer, carried out the sacrifice.
avś_13.001.50.
सत्ये॒ अन्यः॒ समा॒हितो ऽप्स्व् अ॑न्यः॒ स॒म् इध्यते ।
ब्र॒ह्मेद्धाव् अग्नी॒ ईजाते रो॒हितस्य स्वर्वि॒दः ॥५०॥ {५}
satyé anyáḥ samā́hito 'psv ànyáḥ sám idhyate |
bráhmeddhāv agnī́ ījāte róhitasya svarvídaḥ ||50|| {5}
Один помещен в истину,
Другой зажигается в водах,
Зажженные брахманом два огня
Рохиты, нашедшего (небесный) свет,
совершили жертвоприношение.
One is deposited in Truth, one kindled in the waters: both
Agnis of Rohita who found the light are set aflame with prayer.
One is deposited in truth, the other is kindled in the waters. The two fires of Rohita who knows the (heavenly) light, kindled through prayer, carried out the sacrifice.
avś_13.001.51.
यं॒ वा॒तः परिशु॒म्भति यं॒ वे॒न्द्रो ब्र॒ह्मणस्प॒तिः ।
ब्र॒ह्मेद्धावग्नी॒ ईजाते रो॒हितस्य स्वर्वि॒दः ॥५१॥
yáṃ vā́taḥ pariśúmbhati yáṃ véndro bráhmaṇaspátiḥ |
bráhmeddhāvagnī́ ījāte róhitasya svarvídaḥ ||51||
Кого Вата украшает со всех сторон
Или кого Индра, Брахманаспати -
Зажженные брахманом два огня
Рохиты, нашедшего (небесный) свет,
совершили жертвоприношение.
That decked by Wind, and that prepared by Indra Brāhman-
aspati,
Agnis of Rohita who found light, prayer-enkindled, sacrificed.
The fire which the wind brightens up, and that which Indra and Brahmanaspati (brighten up), the two fires of Rohita who knows the (heavenly) light, kindled through prayer, carried out the sacrifice.
avś_13.001.52.
वे॒दिं भू॒मिं कल्पयित्वा॒ दि॒वं कृत्वा॒ द॒क्षिणाम् ।
घ्रंसं॒ त॒द् अग्निं॒ कृत्वा॒ चका॒र वि॒श्वम् आत्मन्व॒द् वर्षे॒णा॒ज्येन रो॒हितः ॥५२॥
védiṃ bhū́miṃ kalpayitvā́ dívaṃ kr̥tvā́ dákṣiṇām |
ghraṃsáṃ tád agníṃ kr̥tvā́ cakā́ra víśvam ātmanvád varṣéṇā́jyena róhitaḥ ||52||
Придав земле форму алтаря, сделав небо наградой за жертву,
Затем превратив жар в огонь,
Рохита создал все, обладающее духом,
С помощью дождя, используемого как жертвенное масло.
Rohita made the earth to be his altar, heaven his Dakshinā.
Then heat he took for Agni, and with rain for molten butter he
created every living thing.
Having fashioned the earth into an altar, having made the heavens (his) sacrificial reward, then having made heat into fire, Rohita created all that has breath through rain (serving) as ghee.
avś_13.001.53.
वर्ष॒म् आ॒जम् घ्रंसो॒ अग्नि॒र् वे॒दिर् भू॒मिर् अकल्पत ।
त॒त्रैता॒न् प॒र्वतान् अग्नि॒र् गीर्भि॒र् ऊर्ध्वां॒ अकल्पयत् ॥५३॥
varṣám ā́jam ghraṃsó agnír védir bhū́mir akalpata |
tátraitā́n párvatān agnír gīrbhír ūrdhvā́m̐ akalpayat ||53||
Дождь, используемый как жертвенное масло, жар как огонь,
Земля как алтарь приобрели форму.
Там Агни придал этим горам
Форму, направленную вверх, с помощью (хвалебных) песен.
The earth became an altar, heat was Agni, and the butter rain.
There Agni made, by song and hymn, these mountains rise and
stand erect.
Rain fashioned itself into ghee, heat into fire, the earth into an altar. Then Agni by (his) songs fashioned the high mountains.
avś_13.001.54.
गीर्भि॒र् ऊर्ध्वा॒न् कल्पयित्वा॒ रो॒हितो भू॒मिम् अब्रवीत् ।
त्व॒यीदं॒ स॒र्वं जायतां य॒द् भूतं॒ य॒च् च भाव्य॑म् ॥५४॥
gīrbhír ūrdhvā́n kalpayitvā́ róhito bhū́mim abravīt |
tváyīdáṃ sárvaṃ jāyatāṃ yád bhūtáṃ yác ca bhāvyàm ||54||
С помощью песен придав форму, направленную вверх,
Рохита сказал земле:
"Пусть все это родится в тебе: Что есть и что будет".
Then, having made the hills stand up, Rohita spake to Earth,
and said:
In thee let every thing be born, what is and what is yet to be.
Having fashioned by means of songs the high (mountains), Rohita spake to the earth: In thee all shall be born, what is and what shall be.
avś_13.001.55.
स॒ यज्ञः॒ प्रथमो॒ भूतो॒ भ॒व्यो अजायत ।
त॒स्माद् ध जज्ञ इदं॒ स॒र्वं य॒त् किं॒ चेदं॒ विरो॒चते रो॒हितेन ऋ॒षिणा॒भृतम् ॥५५॥
sá yajñáḥ prathamó bhūtó bhávyo ajāyata |
tásmād dha jajña idáṃ sárvaṃ yát kíṃ cedáṃ virócate róhitena ŕ̥ṣiṇā́bhr̥tam ||55||
Эта жертва родилась первой,
(Та), что есть и что будет.
От нее родилось все,
Что бы ни сверкало, Принесенное Рохитой как риши.
This sacrifice, the first of all, the past, the present, had its birth.
From that arose this universe, yea, all this world of brightness,
brought by Rohita the heavenly Sage.
The sacrifice first, (and then) what is and what shall be was born. From that this all was born, and whatever here appears, brought hither by the sage Rohita.
avś_13.001.56.
य॒श् च गां॒ पदा॒ स्फुर॒ति प्रत्य॒ङ् सू॒र्यं च मे॒हति ।
त॒स्य वृश्चामि ते मू॒लं न॒ छायां॒ करवो॒ ऽपरम् ॥५६॥
yáś ca gā́ṃ padā́ sphuráti pratyáṅ sū́ryaṃ ca méhati |
tásya vr̥ścāmi te mū́laṃ ná chāyā́ṃ karavó 'param ||56||
Кто пнет корову ногой
И (кто) мочится навстречу солнцу -
У тебя, такого, я вырубаю корень.
Ты не будешь в дальнейшем отбрасывать тень.
If thou should kick a cow, or by indecent act offend the Sun,
Thy root I sever; nevermore mayst thou cast shadow on the
ground.
He who kicks a cow with his foot, and he who micturates towards the sun — of thee do I tear out the root; thou shalt henceforth not cast a shadow!
avś_13.001.57.
यो॒ माभिछाय॒म् अत्ये॒षि मां॒ चाग्निं॒ चान्तरा॒ ।
त॒स्य वृश्चामि ते मू॒लं न॒ छायां॒ करवो॒ ऽपरम् ॥५७॥
yó mābhichāyám atyéṣi mā́ṃ cāgníṃ cāntarā́ |
tásya vr̥ścāmi te mū́laṃ ná chāyā́ṃ karavó 'param ||57||
Ты, что проходишь мимо меня, пересекая (мою) тень,
И между мной и костром, -
У тебя, такого, я вырубаю корень.
Ты не будешь в дальнейшем отбрасывать тень.
Thou who, between the fire and me, passest across the line of
shade.
Thy root I sever: nevermore mayst thou cast shadow on the
ground.
Thou that passest across me, casting thy shadow against me, between me and the fire — of thee do I tear out the root; thou shalt henceforth not cast a shadow!
avś_13.001.58.
यो॒ अद्य॒ देव सूर्य त्वां॒ च मां॒ चान्तरा॒यति ।
दुष्व॒प्न्यं त॒स्मिं छ॒मलं दुरिता॒नि च मृज्महे ॥५८॥
yó adyá deva sūrya tvā́ṃ ca mā́ṃ cāntarā́yati |
duṣvápnyaṃ tásmiṃ chámalaṃ duritā́ni ca mr̥jmahe ||58||
Кто сегодня, о бог Сурья, Пройдет между тобой и мной, На него мы стираем дурной сон, Загрязнение и бедствия.
Whoe'er he be who, Sūrya, God! comes between thee and me
to-day,
On him we wipe away ill-dream, and troubles, and impurity.
He, O god Sūrya, that to-day passes between thee and me, upon him our evil dream, our foulness, and our misfortunes do we wipe off.
avś_13.001.59.
मा॒ प्र॒ गाम पथो॒ वयं॒ मा॒ यज्ञा॒द् इन्द्र सोमि॒नः ।
मा॒न्त॒ स्थुर् नो अ॒रातयः ॥५९॥
mā́ prá gāma pathó vayáṃ mā́ yajñā́d indra somínaḥ |
mā́ntá sthur no árātayaḥ ||59||
Да не сойдем мы с пути!
Да не (лишимся), о Индра, жертвы, сопровождаемой сомой! Да не встанут скупцы на нашем пути!
Let us not, Indra, leave the path, the Soma-presser's sacrifice.
Let not malignities dwell with us.
May we not miss our way, may we not, O Indra, miss the sacrifice of him that presses the soma; may.not the powers of grudge intercept us!
avś_13.001.60.
यो॒ यज्ञ॒स्य प्रसा॒धनस् त॒न्तुर् देवे॒ष्व् आ॒ततः ।
त॒म् आ॒हुतम् अशीमहि ॥६०॥ {६}
yó yajñásya prasā́dhanas tántur devéṣv ā́tataḥ |
tám ā́hutam aśīmahi ||60|| {6}
Кто приводит жертву к цели,
(Кто) нить, протянутая к богам,
Его, политого (жиром), мы хотели бы достигнуть!
May we obtain, completely wrought, the thread spun out tc
reach the Gods,
That perfecteth our sacrifice.
The (guiding) thread stretched out among the gods, that accomplishes the sacrifice, that, by pouring oblations, may we attain!
