अ॒थो या॒नि च य॒स्मा ह या॒नि चान्तः॒ परीण॒हि ।
ता॒नि ते प॒रि दद्मसि ॥१॥

átho yā́ni ca yásmā ha yā́ni cāntáḥ parīṇáhi |
tā́ni te pári dadmasi ||1||

Then all that we accumulate, all that the treasure-chest contains,.
All this do we entrust to thee.

रा॒त्रि मा॒तर् उष॒से नः प॒रि देहि ।
उषा॒ नो अ॒ह्ने प॒रि ददात्व् अ॒हस् तु॒भ्यं विभावरि ॥२॥

rā́tri mā́tar uṣáse naḥ pári dehi |
uṣā́ no áhne pári dadātv áhas túbhyaṃ vibhāvari ||2||

Entrust thou us to Dawn, O Mother Night.
May Dawn entrust us to the Day, and Day to thee, O splendid.
One.

य॒त् किं॒ चेदं॒ पत॒यति य॒त् किं॒ चेदं॒ सरीसृप॒म् ।
य॒त् किं॒ च प॒र्वतायास॒त्वं त॒स्मात् त्वं॒ रात्रि पाहि नः ॥३॥

yát kíṃ cedáṃ patáyati yát kíṃ cedáṃ sarīsr̥pám |
yát kíṃ ca párvatāyāsátvaṃ tásmāt tváṃ rātri pāhi naḥ ||3||

Whatever flying thing be here, whatever thing that creeps and.
crawls.
Whatever fastens on a joint, therefrom do thou protect us,
Night.

सा॒ पश्चा॒त् पाहि सा॒ पुरः॒ सो॒त्तरा॒द् अधरा॒द् उत॒ ।
गोपाय॒ नो विभावरि स्तोता॒रस् त इह॒ स्मसि ॥४॥

sā́ paścā́t pāhi sā́ puráḥ sóttarā́d adharā́d utá |
gopāyá no vibhāvari stotā́ras ta ihá smasi ||4||

So guard thou us from west and east, protect us from the north
and south.
O splendid One, preserve us: we, the singers of thy praise, are
here.

avś_19.048.05.

ये॒ रा॒त्रिम् अनुति॒ष्ठन्ति ये॒ च भूते॒षु जा॒ग्रति ।
पशू॒न् ये॒ स॒र्वान् र॒क्षन्ति ते॒ न आत्म॒सु जाग्रति ते॒ नः पशु॒षु जाग्रति ॥५॥

yé rā́trim anutíṣṭhanti yé ca bhūtéṣu jā́grati |
paśū́n yé sárvān rákṣanti té na ātmásu jāgrati té naḥ paśúṣu jāgrati ||5||

They who are followers of Night, and they who watch o'er
living things.
They who protect all cattle, they keep watch and ward over our
lives, over our herds keep watch and ward.

avś_19.048.06.

वे॒द वै॒ रात्रि ते ना॒म घृता॒ची ना॒म वा॒ असि ।
तां॒ त्वां॒ भर॒द्वाजो वेद सा॒ नो वित्ते॒ ऽधि जाग्रति ॥६॥

véda vái rātri te nā́ma ghr̥tā́cī nā́ma vā́ asi |
tā́ṃ tvā́ṃ bharádvājo veda sā́ no vitté 'dhi jāgrati ||6||

Verily, Night, I know thy name, Dropper of Fatness art thou
called.
Thee Bharadvāja knew as such: as such be watchful o'er our
wealth.
