य॒च् छक्रा॒ वा॒चम् आ॒रुहन्न् अन्त॒रिक्षं सिषासथः ।
सं॒ देवा॒ अमदन् वृ॒षा ॥१॥

yác chakrā́ vā́cam ā́ruhann antárikṣaṃ siṣāsathaḥ |
sáṃ devā́ amadan vŕ̥ṣā ||1||

When voices, fain to win mid-air, ascended to the Mighty One,
The vigorous God was filled with joy.

avś_20.049.02.

शक्रो॒ वा॒चम् अ॒धृष्टायो॒र् उवाचो अ॒धृष्णुहि ।
मं॒हिष्ठ आ॒ मदर्दि॒वि ॥२॥

śakró vā́cam ádhr̥ṣṭāyór uvāco ádhr̥ṣṇuhi |
máṃhiṣṭha ā́ madardívi ||2||

Praise with the voice the Mighty, praise the awful with the voice:
in heaven
He, the most bounteous, hath been glad.

avś_20.049.03.

शक्रो॒ वा॒चम् अ॒धृष्णुहि धा॒मधर्मन् वि॒ राजति ।
वि॒मदन् बर्हि॒र् आ॒सरन् ॥३॥

śakró vā́cam ádhr̥ṣṇuhi dhā́madharman ví rājati |
vímadan barhír ā́saran ||3||

Praise with the voice the Mighty: he rules in each realm. In

Hath set upon the sacred grass.

avś_20.049.04.

तं॒ वो दस्म॒म् ऋतीष॒हं व॒सोर् मन्दान॒म् अ॒न्धसः ।
अभि॒ वत्सं॒ न॒ स्व॒सरेषु धेन॒व इ॒न्द्रं गीर्भि॒र् नवामहे ॥४॥

táṃ vo dasmám r̥tīṣáhaṃ vásor mandānám ándhasaḥ |
abhí vatsáṃ ná svásareṣu dhenáva índraṃ gīrbhír navāmahe ||4||

As cows low to their calf in stalls, so with our songs we glorify
This Indra, even your wondrous God who checks attack, who
joys in the delightful juice.

avś_20.049.05.

द्युक्षं॒ सुदा॒नुं त॒विषीभिर् आ॒वृतम् गिरिं॒ न॒ पुरुभो॒जसम् ।
क्षुम॒न्तं वा॒जं शति॒नं सहस्रि॒णं मक्षू॒ गो॒मन्तम् ईमहे ॥५॥

dyukṣáṃ sudā́nuṃ táviṣībhir ā́vr̥tam giríṃ ná purubhójasam |
kṣumántaṃ vā́jaṃ śatínaṃ sahasríṇaṃ makṣū́ gómantam īmahe ||5||

Celestial, bounteous Giver, God, with power and might, rich,
mountain-like, in precious things.
Him soon we see for foodful booty rich in kine, brought
hundredfold and thousandfold.

avś_20.049.06.

त॒त् त्वा यामि सुवी॒र्यं त॒द् ब्र॒ह्म पूर्व॒चित्तये ।
ये॒ना य॒तिभ्यो भृ॒गवे ध॒ने हिते॒ ये॒न प्र॒स्कण्वम् आ॒विथ ॥६॥

tát tvā yāmi suvī́ryaṃ tád bráhma pūrvácittaye |
yénā yátibhyo bhŕ̥gave dháne hité yéna práskaṇvam ā́vitha ||6||

I crave of thee that hero strength—that thou mayst first regard
this prayer
Wherewith thou helpest Bhrigu and the Yatis and Praskanva
when the prize was staked.

avś_20.049.07.

ये॒ना समुद्र॒म् अ॒सृजो मही॒र् अप॒स् त॒द् इन्द्र वृ॒ष्णि ते श॒वः ।
सद्यः॒ सो॒ अस्य महिमा॒ न॒ संन॒शे यं॒ क्षोणी॒र् अनुचक्रदे॒ ॥७॥

yénā samudrám ásr̥jo mahī́r apás tád indra vŕ̥ṣṇi te śávaḥ |
sadyáḥ só asya mahimā́ ná saṃnáśe yáṃ kṣoṇī́r anucakradé ||7||

Wherewith thou sentest mighty waters to the sea—Indra, that
manly strength of thine.
For ever unattainable is this power of him to whom the worlds
have cried aloud.
