क॒था म॒हाम॑वृध॒त्कस्य॒ होतु॑र्य॒ज्ञं जु॑षा॒णो अ॒भि सोम॒मूधः॑। पिब॑न्नुशा॒नो जु॒षमा॑णो॒ अन्धो॑ वव॒क्ष ऋ॒ष्वः शु॑च॒ते धना॑य॥

kathā mahām avṛdhat kasya hotur yajñaṃ juṣāṇo abhi somam ūdhaḥ |
pibann uśāno juṣamāṇo andho vavakṣa ṛṣvaḥ śucate dhanāya ||

Как он подкрепил великого? У какого хотара,
Радуясь жертве, (он) при(падает) к соме, как к вымени?
Жадно напиваясь, радуясь соку,
Громадный крепнул для блистательного богатства.

Wie hat er den Großen erbaut? An welches Hotri Weihspruch fand er Gefallen und kommt zum Soma als zum Euter? Voll Verlangen trinkend, an dem Trank Gefallen findend ist er übergroß herangewachsen dem Erglühenden zum Reichtum.

How, what priest's sacrifice hath he made mighty, rejoicing in the Soma and its fountain? Delighting in juice, eagerly drinking, the Lofty One hath waxed for splendid riches.

rv04.023.02

को अ॑स्य वी॒रः स॑ध॒माद॑माप॒ समा॑नंश सुम॒तिभिः॒ को अ॑स्य। कद॑स्य चि॒त्रं चि॑किते॒ कदू॒ती वृ॒धे भु॑वच्छशमा॒नस्य॒ यज्योः॑॥

ko asya vīraḥ sadhamādam āpa sam ānaṃśa sumatibhiḥ ko asya |
kad asya citraṃ cikite kad ūtī vṛdhe bhuvac chaśamānasya yajyoḥ ||

Какой муж добился его в сотрапезники?
Кто воспользовался его милостями?
Что за яркое проявление его виднеется?
Будет ли он со (своими) поддержками для подкрепления старательного жертвователя?

Welcher Mann hat ihn zum Zechgenossen bekommen? Wer wurde seiner Gnaden teilhaft? Welches Wunder von ihm hat sich gezeigt? Wird er zum Beistand, zur Förderung des dienstbereiten Opferers geneigt sein?

What hero hath been made his feast-companion? Who hath been partner in his loving-kindness? What know we of his wondrous acts? How often comes he to aid and speed the pious toiler?

rv04.023.03

क॒था शृ॑णोति हू॒यमा॑न॒मिन्द्रः॑ क॒था शृ॒ण्वन्नव॑सामस्य वेद। का अ॑स्य पू॒र्वीरुप॑मातयो ह क॒थैन॑माहुः॒ पपु॑रिं जरि॒त्रे॥

kathā śṛṇoti hūyamānam indraḥ kathā śṛṇvann avasām asya veda |
kā asya pūrvīr upamātayo ha kathainam āhuḥ papuriṃ jaritre ||

Как слышит Индра призыв?
Слыша (его), как умеет отозваться помощью на него?
Каковы же (были) его многочисленные пожалования?
Как это его называют щедрым к певцу?

Wie hört Indra den Ruf? Wie weiß er, wenn er hört, ihm zu helfen? Welches sind seine vielen Zuwendungen? Wie kommt es, daß sie ihn den Beschenker des Sängers nennen?

How heareth Indra offered invocation? How, hearing, marketh he the invoker's wishes? What are his ancient acts of bounty? Wherefore call they him One who filleth full the singer?

rv04.023.04

क॒था स॒बाधः॑ शशमा॒नो अ॑स्य॒ नश॑द॒भि द्रवि॑णं॒ दीध्या॑नः। दे॒वो भु॑व॒न्नवे॑दा म ऋ॒तानां॒ नमो॑ जगृ॒भ्वाँ अ॒भि यज्जुजो॑षत्॥

kathā sabādhaḥ śaśamāno asya naśad abhi draviṇaṃ dīdhyānaḥ |
devo bhuvan navedā ma ṛtānāṃ namo jagṛbhvāṃ abhi yaj jujoṣat ||

Как может тот, кто ревностно трудится для него,
Достигнуть богатства, вознося молитву?
Да уважит бог мои праведные (слова),
Принимая (поклонение), в котором он находит удовольствие!

Wie kann er, der eifrig den Opferdienst besorgt, seinen Reichtum erlangen, wie er ihn sich wünscht? Der Gott nehme meiner rechten Worte wahr, die Huldigung annehmend, an der er seine Freude haben wird.

How doth the priest who laboureth, ever longing, win for himself the wealth which he possesseth? May he, the God, mark well my truthful praises, having received the homage which he loveth.

rv04.023.05

क॒था कद॒स्या उ॒षसो॒ व्यु॑ष्टौ दे॒वो मर्त॑स्य स॒ख्यं जु॑जोष। क॒था कद॑स्य स॒ख्यं सखि॑भ्यो॒ ये अ॑स्मि॒न्कामं॑ सु॒युजं॑ तत॒स्रे॥

kathā kad asyā uṣaso vyuṣṭau devo martasya sakhyaṃ jujoṣa |
kathā kad asya sakhyaṃ sakhibhyo ye asmin kāmaṃ suyujaṃ tatasre ||

Как (и) в какой дружбе смертного бог
Находит удовольствие на восходе этой зари?
Как (он дружит) и какова его дружба с друзьями,
Которые направили на него (свое) хорошо запряженное желание?

Wie und an welcher Freundschaft eines Sterblichen hat der Gott bei Aufgang dieser Morgenröte Gefallen gefunden? Wie und welches ist seine Freundschaft für die Freunde, die an ihn ihren wohlgeschirrten Wunsch gerichtet haben?

How, and what bond of friendship with a mortal hath the God chosen as this morn is breaking? How, and what love hath he for those who love him, who have entwined in him their firm affection?

rv04.023.06

किमादम॑त्रं स॒ख्यं सखि॑भ्यः क॒दा नु ते॑ भ्रा॒त्रं प्र ब्र॑वाम। श्रि॒ये सु॒दृशो॒ वपु॑रस्य॒ सर्गाः॒ स्व१॒॑र्ण चि॒त्रत॑ममिष॒ आ गोः॥

kim ād amatraṃ sakhyaṃ sakhibhyaḥ kadā nu te bhrātram pra bravāma |
śriye sudṛśo vapur asya sargāḥ svar ṇa citratamam iṣa ā goḥ ||

А что дружба твоя с друзьями – (это) сосуд (для питья)?
Когда же мы сможем провозгласить братство с тобой?
Для блеска – чудесный облик прекрасного, его порывы.
Словно ярко сверкающее солнце, приводит (все) в движение (чудесный облик) быка.

Dürfen wir dann deine Freundschaft eine Gefäß für die Freunde nennen? Wann dürfen wir wohl von deiner Brüderschaft öffentlich sprechen? Zu Ehren des Schönen streben seiner herrlichen Erscheinung, die gar wunderbar wie die Sonne ist, die Rinderherden zu.

Is then thy friendship with thy friends most mighty? Thy brotherhood with us, -when may we tell it? The streams of milk move, as most wondrous sunlight, the beauty of the Lovely One for glory.

rv04.023.07

द्रुहं॒ जिघां॑सन्ध्व॒रस॑मनि॒न्द्रां तेति॑क्ते ति॒ग्मा तु॒जसे॒ अनी॑का। ऋ॒णा चि॒द्यत्र॑ ऋण॒या न॑ उ॒ग्रो दू॒रे अज्ञा॑ता उ॒षसो॑ बबा॒धे॥

druhaṃ jighāṃsan dhvarasam anindrāṃ tetikte tigmā tujase anīkā |
ṛṇā cid yatra ṛṇayā na ugro dūre ajñātā uṣaso babādhe ||

Желая сокрушить обман, несущий гибель, не признающий Индры,
Он оттачивает острые наконечники стрел для нападения,
Когда он, грозный преследователь наших грехов,
Далеко прогоняет грехи к неизвестным зорям.

Um die Falschheit zu zerstören, die Fallen stellende, die keinen Indra kennt, schärft er die scharfen Pfeilspitzen zum Angriff, während der gestrenge Schuldvergelter unsere Schulden in die Ferne zu den unbekannten Morgenröten abgeschoben hat.

About to stay the Indra-less destructive spirit he sharpens his keen arms to strike her. Whereby the Strong, although our debts' exactor, drives in the distant mornings that we know not.

rv04.023.08

ऋ॒तस्य॒ हि शु॒रुधः॒ सन्ति॑ पू॒र्वीरृ॒तस्य॑ धी॒तिर्वृ॑जि॒नानि॑ हन्ति। ऋ॒तस्य॒ श्लोको॑ बधि॒रा त॑तर्द॒ कर्णा॑ बुधा॒नः शु॒चमा॑न आ॒योः॥

ṛtasya hi śurudhaḥ santi pūrvīr ṛtasya dhītir vṛjināni hanti |
ṛtasya śloko badhirā tatarda karṇā budhānaḥ śucamāna āyoḥ ||

Ведь много есть вознаграждений у закона:
Познание закона разбивает (все) хитросплетения.
Зов закона пронзил глухие уши
Человека, пробуждая, пылая.

Denn der Wahrheit Gaben sind viele: Die Erkenntnis der Wahrheit zerstört die Unredlichkeiten. Der Mahnruf hat die tauben Ohren des Ayu geöffnet, zündend, wenn er verstanden wird.

Eternal Law hath varied food that strengthens; thought of eternal Law, removes transgressions. The praise-hymn of eternal Law, arousing, glowing, hath oped the deaf ears of the living.

rv04.023.09

ऋ॒तस्य॑ दृ॒ळ्हा ध॒रुणा॑नि सन्ति पु॒रूणि॑ च॒न्द्रा वपु॑षे॒ वपूं॑षि। ऋ॒तेन॑ दी॒र्घमि॑षणन्त॒ पृक्ष॑ ऋ॒तेन॒ गाव॑ ऋ॒तमा वि॑वेशुः॥

ṛtasya dṛḷhā dharuṇāni santi purūṇi candrā vapuṣe vapūṃṣi |
ṛtena dīrgham iṣaṇanta pṛkṣa ṛtena gāva ṛtam ā viveśuḥ ||

У закона есть твердые основы,
Много ярких чудес на удивление.
Благодаря закону давно приводятся в движение жизненные силы.
Благодаря закону коровы вступили на путь истины.

Die Wahrheit hat feste Grundlagen, viele glänzende Wunder zum Schauen. Durch die Wahrheit werden lange Zeit die Lebenskräfte in Bewegung gesetzt, durch die Wahrheit kamen die Kühe den rechten Weg.

Firm-seated are eternal Law's foundations in its fair form are many splendid beauties. By holy Law long lasting food they bring us; by holy Law have cows come to our worship.

rv04.023.10

ऋ॒तं ये॑मा॒न ऋ॒तमिद्व॑नोत्यृ॒तस्य॒ शुष्म॑स्तुर॒या उ॑ ग॒व्युः। ऋ॒ताय॑ पृ॒थ्वी ब॑हु॒ले ग॑भी॒रे ऋ॒ताय॑ धे॒नू प॑र॒मे दु॑हाते॥

ṛtaṃ yemāna ṛtam id vanoty ṛtasya śuṣmas turayā u gavyuḥ |
ṛtāya pṛthvī bahule gabhīre ṛtāya dhenū parame duhāte ||

Придерживающийся закона, от закона и получает.
Напор закона стремителен и приносит коров.
Для закона – земля (и небо) просторны, глубоки.
Для закона доятся они как две превосходные дойные коровы.

Wer an der Wahrheit festhält, hat von der Wahrheit Gewinn. Der Drang der Wahrheit ist ein Renner, der Rinder erkämpfen will. Für die Wahrheit sind beide Welten breit, geräumig, tief; für die Wahrheit geben sie als die vortrefflichsten Milchkühe ihre Milch.

Fixing eternal Law he, too, upholds it swift moves the might of Law and wins the booty. To Law belong the vast deep Earth and Heaven: Milch-kine supreme, to Law their milk they render.

rv04.023.11

नू ष्टु॒त इ॑न्द्र॒ नू गृ॑णा॒न इषं॑ जरि॒त्रे न॒द्यो॒३॒॑ न पी॑पेः। अका॑रि ते हरिवो॒ ब्रह्म॒ नव्यं॑ धि॒या स्या॑म र॒थ्यः॑ सदा॒साः॥

nū ṣṭuta indra nū gṛṇāna iṣaṃ jaritre nadyo na pīpeḥ |
akāri te harivo brahma navyaṃ dhiyā syāma rathyaḥ sadāsāḥ ||

Прославленный сейчас, о Индра, воспетый сейчас,
Пусть сделаешь ты набухшей, словно реки, жертвенную пищу для певца!
Сотворена тебе новая молитва, о хозяин буланых коней.
Благодаря поэтической мысли пусть будем мы всегда победоносными колесничими!

Gepriesen und gelobt mögest du nun dem Anfänger Speise anschwellen lassen wie die Flüsse, o Indra. Es ist dir aufs neue eine Erbauung gemacht worden, du Falbenlenker. Möchten wir durch die Dichtung immergewinnende Wagenlenker sein!

Now, Indra! lauded,- glorified with praises, let power swell high like rivers to the singer. For thee a new hymn, Lord of Bays, is fashioned. May we, car-borne, through song be victors ever.
